RALEIGH (WTVD) -- After a grueling months-long campaign that saw the candidates and outside groups spend over a $100 million on advertising, Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan and Republican challenger Thom Tillis were waiting for the final results after the polls closed Tuesday evening. The race seesawed back and forth through the evening with just a couple of percentage points separating the main contestants.

Tillis up over 50,000 with 94% reporting.
Recount proof?
Meklenburg is only at 76% and still counting.
mecklenburg. Ugh. We’re screwed.
Mecklenburg and Guilford precincts not reporting are not pro Hagen.
Roughly a 2% lead. Tillis has gotten stronger as the evening has progressed. CBS changed the race from Trending Dem to now Trending Rep.
Excellent.
I’ve looked at the reporting percentage in Mecklenburg, Guilford, and Forsyth, and I don’t see enough urban votes remaining to catch up to Tillis. Wake is fully reported. Guilford and Forsyth are like 99% reported, and Mecklenburg is about 87% reported now, and the vote difference in Mecklenburg count after 87% precincts in is about what the margin is between Tillis and Hagan. I can’t see her doubling her margin with just 13% left to report.
Yeah, I agree. I looked at Mecklenburg earlier and it didn’t look like there was enough juice left there to change these numbers to Hagan’s favor. I think Tillis should be OK.
Go Tillis go....
“...Mecklenburg and Guilford precincts not reporting are not pro Hagen...”
???
At 87% of the votes in Meklenburg Country is running 137,770 for Hagan and 91,527 for Tillis. (58% to 39%)
Even Politico has caved, and counted a Tillis win.
An expert was saying that Guilford and Mecklenberg precincts that hadn’t reported were traditionally Republican. NW Guilford and Meck suburbs. Again, I said precincts.
NW Guilford is my neck of the woods. Oak Ridge, Summerfield and Stokesdale. Not Obama territory in the least.
