I like Cruz and Ernst, but U.S. Senators typically don't make good presidential candidates. Go back 40+ years and you'll find some of the most awful presidential candidates in the history of the nation:
McCain, Gore, Dole, Mondale, McGovern ... the list just goes on and on. And if it weren't for the fact that Obama was running against McCain, he would have been beaten like a rented mule in 2008, too.
This is why the top prospects for the GOP in 2016 will likely be sitting (or former) governors.

I have been saying that for YEARS here on FR. (in this and another iteration of my FREEPer self.)
Glad someone else realizes that good, effective leadership comes from the executive branch.

That’s a good point. But I see both with a fair share of leadership skills and charisma. Gotta wonder if that could makeup for executive experience? I really don’t know.
