Ted Cruz plans to lead the Republican Senate (moderates afraid!)

You can forget about Mitch McConnell. Ted Cruz has plans to take over… if the Republicans win their Senate majority. After a spell of cooperating with his party during the campaign season, the Post reports, he will elbow his way into de facto leadership.

In an interview at the Hotel Captain Cook here between campaign stops for Sullivan, Cruz made it clear he would push hard for a Republican-led Senate to be as conservative and confrontational as the Republican-led House.

Piggybacking on what House leaders have done, Cruz said the first order of business should be a series of hearings on President Obama, “looking at the abuse of power, the executive abuse, the regulatory abuse, the lawlessness that sadly has pervaded this administration.”

Cruz also would like the Senate to be as aggressive in trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act as the House, which has voted more than 50 times to get rid of the law.

Republicans should “pursue every means possible to repeal Obamacare,” Cruz said, including forcing a vote through parliamentary procedures that would get around a possible filibuster by Democrats. If that leads to a veto by Obama, Cruz said, Republicans should then vote on provisions of the health law “one at a time.”

And when asked whether he would back Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky for Republican leader, Cruz would not pledge his support… ...WaPo

I’m a baaaad man. I want to destroy America by stacking the govt with conservatives and purists and right wing nutjobs and with God as my witness I HAVE NO SHAME FOR IT!!!

No you're not.

But it won't work unless they call themselves Republicans.

Maybe. Maybe not. But in 2 years we will see. Because if the Rs do what Mitch and Jon promised, I don’t think their R will matter. Look how close this is now thanks to their untrustworthiness. They do what they say they will and it’s over.

lessee.. House impeaches, how many in the Senate to convict?

Super-majority or just majority?

Race war? If they can't see that this bozo deserves it more than any, bring it.

If only this could happen. Senator Cruz is one of the few Republicans that I trust completely.

Supermajority. Two-thirds of the Senate needed to convict.

I would be very happy if McConnell lost his race as long as the Repubs still get a good majority in the Senate......let Cruz truly bring fresh air and energy and true conservative leadership.......would be great.

Here in Iowa, Ted Cruz is making commercials for Joni Ernst. I wonder where else that is happening. He is going to have plenty of IOUs tomorrow, God willing.

Coups in both the new Republican Senate and Republican House leaderships would be gigantic steps in restoring some faith to those institutions.

If it doesn't materialize starting tomorrow, the GOP is kaput. Last chance.

.I get blasted for my views and they mistake my honesty for a dislike for her. Just the opposite...she lit a fire across conservatives long missing from our movement. She helped get Cruz elected and we thank her for that. However I do think it is time for her to step aside and pass the torch. I think she has done that with Cruz but only time will tell.

I'm a'wishin' and a'hopin' that she's about to hitch a ride on the Cruz Express, perhaps as the conductor! (What's wrong with that?)

The last time I got this enthusiatic about a politician, the guy had the initials RWR.

In 1980 I was 18, and excited about voting for Kemp in the primary. I didn't get excited about Reagan until the "I paid for this microphone" moment.

I got to cast my first presidential vote for Reagan. It would be nice to be enthusiastic about voting again.

This is what I’ve been waiting to hear........Cruz has my
vote.

I think her brand would bring him down and turn people away...the media ruined her...with very few allies the perception of her is forged... I think West however is a fantastic pick
