A desperate Mary Landrieu smears the state she represents
The New Orleans Times Piscayne ^ | October 31, 2014 | James Varney

Posted on 11/01/2014 10:07:06 AM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Things must be going even worse for the Democrats than the polls suggest. The campaign of incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., for example, has hit rock bottom.

How else to explain her lame attempt to blame her electoral peril on racism and sexism? Modern illiberals are incapable of thinking their record or their ideas could lead to misfortune.

Landrieu has been in trouble in the polls for weeks now. Indeed, it seems increasingly unlikely she could beat either of her two top Republican challengers head-to-head, although she will almost certainly get the chance against one in a runoff.

Desperate, Landrieu went on NBC News. She allowed that sustained attempts to undermine energy production and thus make things much more expensive for us contributes to President Obama's unpopularity, which, in turn, dampens her own re-election prospects.

But then that's the uphill battle she must fight, Landrieu sighed, because in the South blacks and women have had it hard. She declined to explain how she has been elected three times as a senator by such a collection of unwashed knuckle draggers.

When we’re talking about Landrieu, we must NEVER forget that who’re sold out Louisiana and America for a $300M worth of pork for a “yes” vote on Obamacare. She has to pay dearly for that act of prostitution.

Hey, neither rhyme nor reason stops a true liberal dim. Do you know that we in South Carolina are proven hard core racists because we voted for Herman Cain in the 2012 Republican primary? That’s right, voting for a black candidate proves that we are racist, uh huh, thass rite. You’ll have to get a liberal retard to explain it to you, I still haven’t figured out exactly how it works but the liberals are never wrong about these things you know. See, we have always voted for the person who ultimately became the Republican candidate as long as the state has had a Republican primary but in 2012 we apparently voted for the black man because we knew he would lose the primary nationally and we could pretend not to be racist because we voted for the black man but we wouldn’t have voted for him if we thought he would win you see, so that proves we are hardcore racists because we were willing to break a perfect record to pretend we are NOT racists. I’m sure that makes perfect sense to somebody.

Cassidy WILL place first unless the random “true conservative” guy does better than I think. But he could get 49.99% or exactly 50%, and the rats would still contest the runoff, OF COURSE, are you kidding? If he gets 50.1% they’ll demand a recount too.

I’m surprised to see this in the Times-Pic.

They’re reliably as left as the Des Moines and Milwaukee papers.

I too was surprised, but I guess most liberal rags have one token Conservative writer. Apparently, Jim Varney is it for the Picayune.

Col. Maness had the best comment in the entire article. He said:

"Maybe if Sen. Landrieu actually lived in Louisiana, she would know that the reason why she and President Obama are so unpopular is because of the policies they support and the big government agenda they have imposed on Louisiana's working families."

Wouldn't it be something if the top two vote-getters in LA on Tuesday were Col. Maness and Bill Cassidy?

I’m fond of Mr. Guillory’s new TV ads in North Carolina and Georgia as well.

Manness (sp) needs to do a last-second drop-out to ensure Landrieu is defeated without a run-off.

It’s simply the “right thing” to do.

You know, I really like Col. Maness, but I must agree with you. I’ve heard that Vitter is going to run for Governor in 2016 and Rob Maness could run for his Senate Seat. If he would do that, I’m thinking he’d win handily. Someone needs to put that bug in his ear. If he came out and made that announcement tomorrow, Senator Thunder Thighs would crap down both legs.

I like Rush’s title for her: Senator Baby fat.

Senator “Baby Fat”? I love Rush and loathe Landrieu. But, Rush needs to be reminded..... “People who live in glass houses.......”

Either a desperate attempt OR Mary Landrieu might have been hit with the SORE LOSER syndrome a little early.

She probably knows she will lose the race, so is attacking her constituents early for voting against her.

Mansess isn’t gonna win any statewide election “handily”. Voters tend to prefer people with records, people that they’ve heard of, like conservative Congressman Bill Cassidy. Not random guys with no political experience who say they are conservative. Many people will be interested in Vitter’s seat.

If memory serves me correctly, South Carolina didn’t vote for Herman Cain in 2012 GOP primary. In January of 2012 that vote went to Newt Gingrich, while Herman Cain has already dropped out of the presidential race in early December 2011 (and it was not because of his glib and flashy but poorly thought out and shallow 9-9-9 campaign plan).

However, South Carolina Republicans have proved that they are “racist” when they elected Tim Scott to serve in Congress, first in the House of Representatives in 2010 and 2012, and is currently the only black U.S. Senator (and first from The South since Reconstruction) after being appointed to replace retired Jim DeMint in 2013.

It doesn’t get any more “racist” than that, does it?

I thought according to some “experts” on Louisiana politics here at FRee Republic - some who don’t even live in the state - Maness was the “Tea Party” candidate.

Dr. Ben Carson and tea party group rally for Bill Cassidy
by mark ballard| mballard@theadvocate.com

Nov. 01, 2014

Congressman Bill Cassidy spent Saturday shoring up support on the right wing of the Republican Party at a Northshore Tea Party rally.

Flanked by U.S. Sen. David Vitter and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, Cassidy shared the stage with conservative favorite Dr. Ben Carson at the event in the woods near Abita Springs.

Cassidy, of Baton Rouge, is the leading Republican candidate challenging the re-election of U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu.

I didn't know about the Vitter-Gov-2016 angle ...

Accordingly, a last-minute Col. Maness feint (endorsement, drop-out) would psychologically "break-the-back" of the Landrieu campaign (and LA Democrats).

When Louisiana voters see that 65-perecent of their fellows are actually "conservative", they'd feel less embarrassed.

Col. Maness would also show that "it's NOT about him" ... and retire from the 2014 election with genuine HONOR.

That would earn him a 2016 Senate victory, perhaps even with (what's his name's endorsement).

Unless of course, the GOPe has reserved the 2016 Senate seat for Jindal ...

"Hi voters. I managed to unglue my lips from Obama's
*** to be here. That's why my mouth looks so funny."

========================================================

Voters are very forgiving---but it's almost impossible to forgive a candidate who fails to recognize the impact of his/her words.

In the Chuck Todd interview Landrieu trashed Louisianans---dismissing them as nothing more than hapless "conservatives." Landrieu added: “It has not always been a good place for women, to be able to present ourselves as the leaders we are. It’s more of a conservative place. So we’ve had to work a little bit harder on that”.......meaning she had to dupe a lot of good people to get herself elected.

Odd isn't it----when Landrieu was elected and reelected multiple times---there was no racism or sexism in Louisiana. Now that she appears to be losing Landrieu suddenly discovers sexism and racism in every corner of Louisiana.

Another FReeper likened Landrieu's goofball rhetoric to California candidate---then-incumbent Gov Pat Brown---- inexplicably telling a Black audience, "Remember, an actor shot Lincoln."

Brown's opponent was Ronald Reagan who went on to win the governership by a million votes.

=========================================

CONCLUSION It's hard to say if Landrieu's desperate and deplorable tactics---vilifying and slandering her own voters--- will be enough to win her another unexpected victory in Louisiana....but she knows every trick in the book.

In 2002, Landrieu was forced into a run-off. She was under-funded and labeled the underdog. So she and her Democrat operatives mined every ghetto, housing project, crack house, ho house and Nursing Home in New Orleans for votes.....she won by a hair.

I saw that, way to go Dr. C.

Yeah, it’s kinda like how most of Milton Wolf’s support came from outside Kansas.
