"We need to learn from history; we need to look to history, what works and what doesn't. One thing is clear: If Republicans run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole or a John McCain or a Mitt Romney, let me be clear, all three of those are good honest men, decent men, they are patriots, but if we run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole or a John McCain or a Mitt Romney, we will end up with the same result, which is millions of people will stay home on Election Day."

Cruz seems to be the only guy on the public scene who actually “gets” it.
Or anyone with the last name of Bush.
Please America.... Don’t go there.
Or Bush.
do you really think you can trust lawyers ?
they seem to be obsessed with manipulating truth and reality to fit their agendas and desired outcomes .
personally I know of no warrior lawyers
and all the warriors I know curse all the lawyers they know for all the roe’s that keep them from victory on the battlefield
I’m convinced the GOP liberal hierarchy manipulated the primaries to ensure that Romney would win and thus become the nominee. If they do the same in 2016, I’ll still vote, but I will write in Ted Cruz. Call it a wasted vote or ensuring a Democrat win, but I will not hold my nose and vote for another Republican liberal. The party will not tell me who to vote for.
I share your general disdain for the profession.
But, as with any group, there are exceptions.
For example, I'm aware of a union boss who turned into a pretty good President.
My reading of the man, Cruz, is that he is precisely what the country needs at this time: A man of faith and conservative conviction, with good character and a will of steel.
Sounds like Cruz is running. Good!! He’ll have my vote.
Exactly true!
Here is the dynamic that is the real problem for conservatives:
A quiz: who is going to vote in greater numbers:
A. People who grudgingly drag themselves to the polls to vote mainly on ballot questions and a few local candidates, and who will check the national candidate while they are there only because they feel forced to.
B. Starry-eyed, feverish, spittle-lipped ideologues who are obsessed with a cult of personality who make up fawning songs about the candidate at the top of the ticket.
You can’t change the way people think without changing the underlying cause of those thoughts, which is the support of the candidate. You can change the behavior to a degree and shame them into going to the polls and angrily putting a checkbox next to the name of someone they don’t support, but that doesn’t change the underlying lack of support.
That’s irrational. This guy is a Constitutional lawyer who has proved himself to be on the side of the Constitution time after time. Good people can be lawyers, just like good people can be cops. They are few and far between, sure, but they do exist. Are you aware how many politicians have been lawyers at one time or another? Who exactly do you intend to vote for? Winnie-the-Pooh? I understand your caution, but all the other potential candidates have some taint to them...it’s a human problem. The thing with Cruz is that he sticks to his word, and actively stands for what he believes in. He’s no spineless RINO.
We won’t get a conservative nominated and elected until conservatives can agree to settle on just ONE conservative candidate BEFORE the primaries begin!
The establishment GOP will all fall in line behind ONE moderate that they pick in advance. While the conservative wing splits their primary votes six ways to Sunday.
Runt Paul, Bobby Jindle, Santorum, Huckleberry, Scott Walker, and Ted Cruz. Four of those would have zero chance even if nominated. A conservative would have no problem picking put which four that is.
Jeb Bush Or Crispy Creame will win every time when we do that!
Scott Walker
Count me in.
That would be something for a late night parody show. "Act of Love" Jeb will be down there leading a mariachi band as he invites the rest of Mexico into the former USA.
I've been telling the Republicans to nominate a general for the last 5 election cycles. They just won't listen.
No, the way we got Dole, McCain, and Romney is because the GOPe has set up the primaries system so most of the early ones are open primaries where Dims can cross over and vote for Republicans.
Who would you recommend?
repubs suck, deal with it!
Or another non conservative freaken Bush.
Just say No to Jeb.
I ALREADY DID.
