Mitch McConnell willing to kill Obamacare with just 51 votes

Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says he would be willing to repeal Obamacare with a simple majority if he takes over as majority leader in January, his spokesman told the Washington Examiner on Thursday.

The announcement comes just days before Tuesday's midterm congressional election, in which Republicans have a strong chance of seizing the upper chamber from the Democrats and putting the Kentucky senator in charge.

"Leader McConnell is and has always been committed to the full repeal of Obamacare, and he'll continue to lead efforts to repeal and replace it with patient-centered reforms that enable greater choice at lower costs. He knows it won't be easy, but he also believes that if Republicans are fortunate enough to take back the majority we’ll owe it to the American people to try through votes on full repeal, the bill’s most onerous provisions, and reconciliation,” McConnell spokesman Brian McGuire wrote in an emailed statement.

“Another episode of Lucy and Charlie Brown and the Football.”

Great analogy!

No point is soft pedaling the obvious. only a mentally challenges person could not see what an outright liar turtle boy is within 24 hours alone, say nothing of his career as a whole. And only a fool would reelect him..

What it will do is de-fund that evil law, which is almost as good.

What it will do is show that the Republicans are not just all talk and no action.

For too long, Republican leaders have given excuse after excuse as to why "now" is not the right time for the fight, or they suppose the worst case scenario and then act as if that worst case had already happened.

Never do they actually put the proverbial into play and see what comes of it. They might be surprised by what results. They may find some red-state Senators like Manchin or King, or maybe even a desperate Landrieu, Shaheen, or Hagan, might join their side. Of course, it's too late now for a play for desperate Democrats, but that's typical McConnell for you... afraid of his own shadow when it counts, and then a bull when it doesn't.

For perhaps the first time in his life, McConnell is actually dripping in sweat for fear at the thought of losing his seat. And he will not lose because his Democrat opponent is worth a damn, but because he has been, and remains, such a turd. Worse than useless and worthless.

He has already come out to promise the Democrats that he will return to the senate rules that Harry Reid threw out the window for Republicans. Again.

That’s enough. No shallow promise or pretense at change is believable from him any more. He would sell his mother to Arab slavers to keep his seat. His word is meaningless.

Mitch McConnell just needs to get out of the way. Since he refuses to do so voluntarily, he needs to get tossed out with the rest of the trash.

If conservatives just refuse to vote for him, he loses, and one of the biggest obstacles to reform is gone.

Correct. Mitch is a lying POS. But we “have to give them the senate”?

This Tuesday Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he won’t move to repeal Obamacare if Republicans win a majority this year.

Because Obama would veto it. It makes absolutely no sense to try to repeal Obamacare while Obama is in office. We need a Republican congress and president to do that. There will be plenty of work for congress to do in opposing Obama's threatened unilateral executive power.

No way. A government “shutdown” is a cross and garlic to the GOPe.

Fine. Let him. He’s a lame duck already. Upwards of 80% hate Obamacare and it’s going to get worse in 2015. Let him veto it. It would help Cruz in 2016.

If I recall correctly, every bill must go across the president’s desk. He would veto that as well. If the congress refused to budge and the president refused to budge, we’d be where we are now....no budget and utilizing debt limits and spending targets.

No real change until we get a president and congress from the same party.

What we need is a budget amendment...everyone always asks for a balanced budget amendment. But we don’t even have a budget requirement in the constitution. That’s why they can operate without a budget.

All the constitution requires is a spending report.

When it is the right time to fight they raise the white flag and runaway faster than a Monty Python skit.

They had Congress and the WH in 2004-2007 and massively raised government spending. Their track record is one of failure. And now we know W Bush was just as bad as his daddy and let Rove run his administration. Shame on him.

No real change until we get a president and congress from the same party.

Yeah, that worked out so well in the mid 2000's.

I’m not saying it WILL lead them to do the right thing. I’m saying that you won’t get the right thing done in this era with partisan divided government. Having the president and congress of the same party gives the opportunity to get the right thing done.
