Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says he would be willing to repeal Obamacare with a simple majority if he takes over as majority leader in January, his spokesman told the Washington Examiner on Thursday.
The announcement comes just days before Tuesday's midterm congressional election, in which Republicans have a strong chance of seizing the upper chamber from the Democrats and putting the Kentucky senator in charge.
"Leader McConnell is and has always been committed to the full repeal of Obamacare, and he'll continue to lead efforts to repeal and replace it with patient-centered reforms that enable greater choice at lower costs. He knows it won't be easy, but he also believes that if Republicans are fortunate enough to take back the majority well owe it to the American people to try through votes on full repeal, the bills most onerous provisions, and reconciliation, McConnell spokesman Brian McGuire wrote in an emailed statement.

Wow, Mitch must have bought a clue. He sure didn’t have one a few days ago.
He should put his money where his mouth is, sign a public document stating if he does not, he will immediately resign upon the first nay vote.
This Tuesday Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he wont move to repeal Obamacare if Republicans win a majority this year.
In a Fox News interview, McConnell was asked if hed push for getting rid of the Affordable Care Act as Majority Leader.
It would take 60 votes in the Senate. Nobody thinks were going to have 60 Republicans, McConnell said. And it would take a president presidential signature. No one thinks were going to get that.
Rather than reaffirming his pledge to repeal Obamacare root and branch as he has vowed to do countless times on the campaign trail, Senator McConnell made excuses for why he wont deliver on his central campaign promise.
I don’t believe it.
51 votes won’t repeal Obamacare - it won’t override the guaranteed veto. What it will do is de-fund that evil law, which is almost as good. The thug in our White House could veto that budget, but then Obama would be the one shutting down the government to preserve mandatory Christian payments for abortion. I strongly approve of putting America’s most dangerous enemy in history in that position. This makes taking over the Senate even more worth while.
Wanna buy a bridge?
Can Senate majority of 51+ and House majority kill Obamacare without president’s signing such a bill?
Onamacare is a law passed on Christmas eve midnight by the democrat controlled congress of 2009 and signed by Obummer.
My understanding is to repeal a law another law needs to be passed and signed.
However congress may have a way to kill funding Obamacare.
He lies. Anyone that votes for him deserves what hell they bring on themselves. If they don’t know what a fraud he is by now, they are too stupid to be voting.
My thoughts exactly, bingo.
Oh, but first we have to change the rules of the senate to restore the old rules, and then the Democrats will have 24/7 coverage for their entire filibuster of this ‘evil Republican plan to attack the poor of this country to protect the rich and deprive them of much needed health care.’
Is there waterfront with it?
When the smoke clears he’ll have 56 GOP votes.
Yep.
McConnell already said we can’t kill Obamacare.....just some meaningless medical instrument tax cut for rich guys. The ease with which McConnell lies reminds me of Obama.
