The first steps in a major shakeup of the Ferguson, Missouri police department – including the resignation of Chief Thomas Jackson – could come as early as next week, according to local and federal officials who’ve been briefed on plans still being worked out by city and state leaders.
The plan, described by a source with direct knowledge of the plans as “extremely delicate,” said the details are still being hashed out in closed-door meetings between Ferguson city and St. Louis County officials who have sought consultation from the Justice Department, which is conducting a civil rights investigation into the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in August.

I wonder about the future there. The town is about 1/3 white and 2/3 black. Its not hard to imagine that the remaining whites will move away, and that no whites will move in. Result will be a town which is 99% black in a few years.
I think the black community should get to police itaelf. In fact, I think it should be required to do so. And majority white communities (do any remain, and for how long?) should get the same rule.
That’s probably a fairly accurate prediction.
I said let them police themselves, it would be the same difference. As long as their “community” is required to keep the thuggery to itself, also. I don’t think even one more white LEO should be required to put his life on the line for these ferals, while also living under the threat of a lawsuit for doing his job.

I come from two towns where this happened. Newark & East Orange N.J. What is left is not a pretty sight.
Turn this around... Any town with vacancies in their PD should solicit every single member of the Ferguson force. Throw in an upfront relocation package to the most qualified respondents.
