He’s a stand up guy, I heard about his collection in the past, it’s great that instead of looking to get his money back he decided to give it to the people of Texas.

all i’m saying is that Phil Collins is one of many people in his age group and wealth bracket who finally decides to divest their collections whether the collection is right or wrong.And these type of wealthy individuals do it for a price and will buy certain items of interest from the donatee under contract so to reap the benefit(s) while the museum pays for what they truly believe is of intrinsic value either to the history of the United States or a state like Texas or anywhere else in our great nation.
It is up to museum’s curators to determine what is to be archived for later use in museum study, public education or for display to engage individuals who have a passion for history and to raise funds for museum.
This is not the first time Collins has donated and it’s not a big deal. Those people down at the Alamo Museum are most likely STILL cataloging his donation from 2010.
His largesse to the State of Texas is well documented but that doesn’t change the stripes on his coat. He’s an ultra-liberal and if you loike his music more power to you but in the long run he’s an ultra-liberal and when he moves he shakes (mover & a shaker)in the world of public opinion like many- you could compare him to Oprah if you wanted too-he’s just a bit older & more grizzled.
In the end, what matters most is who benefits from the god almighty dollar and I believe it ain’t gonna’ be the State of Texas.
While we are on the St of Texas I have noticed in the past 3 months how Guv Rick Perry seems to have taken a back seat on the border issue, immigration issue, & nary out word out of him during the Texas ebola crisis.
Did someone tell him to stand down? Did someone tell him to shut-up or else?
Personally, I’ve never had it in Perry BUT there is one person who I’d get behind and that is.........
TED CRUZ.

It was his private collection. Why should the federal government get to dictate to whom he donates it?
If the feds want it, they can make an offer to purchase. Whatever they offer, I hope the Alamo turns it down.
Battle of the Alamo was in 1836, during the Texians’ war for independence from Mexico. Texas was an independent nation for nine years and didn’t join the union as a state until 1845.
So, no, not U.S. history. This stuff belongs in San Antonio.

What a wonderful thing to do. I hope all his artifacts have provenance and have value to the museum. Otherwise I would say it would his “jumble sale” and a big tax write off for him.

Perhaps he enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, and now he gets associated with the artifacts and the Alamo for all time.

Let the Alamo take his donations but i’m not applauding him.
