White House Presses States to Reverse Ebola Quarantine

The Obama administration has been pushing the governors of New York and New Jersey to reverse their decision ordering all medical workers returning from West Africa who had contact with Ebola patients to be quarantined, an administration official said.

But on Sunday both governors, Andrew M. Cuomo of New York and Chris Christie of New Jersey, stood by their decision, saying that the federal guidelines did not go far enough.

At the same time, the first person to be forced into isolation under the new protocols, Kaci Hickox, a nurse returning from Sierra Leone, planned to mount a legal challenge to the quarantine order. Despite having no symptoms, she has been kept under quarantine at a hospital in New Jersey, where she has been confined to a tent equipped with a portable toilet and no shower. On Sunday, she spoke to CNN about the way she has been treated, describing it as “inhumane.”

A nurse who had worked with Ebola patients in West Africa was placed under quarantine at University Hospital shortly after she landed at Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday.

The rapidly escalating events played out both privately, in intense negotiations and phone calls between federal and state officials, as well as publicly in the nurse’s pointed criticism of the New Jersey governor.

But in that time, two more states – Illinois and Florida – announced that they were instituting similar policies.

Federal officials made it clear that they do not agree with the governors about the need or effectiveness of a total quarantine for health care workers, though they were careful not to directly criticize the governors themselves.

The only thing about the quarantine is that once we start this, obola/jarret/soros will use it as an excuse to quarantine any and all groups who don't support him. A better deal would be to not allow anyone coming in who has been in the hot zone during the past 42 days. Be they wait out their time in Brussels or Mars, I don't care.

How is Barry going to handle the situation of nurses just not going to work when Ebola hits their hospital. Barry needs to not only enforce maximum quarantine but put our citizens plus national guard to work building Isolation hospitals with all of the latest juice suits. If Ebola is stopped then we will be ready for the next viral hit.

One theory is that, if the gov't closes off entry to anyone traveling from Ebola infected countries, they'll be forced (by logical extension) to truly close our open southern border to illegals.

Obama and the deep Communist left can't allow anything whatsoever to interfere with their plans to create 30+ million new Democrat voters/welfare parasites. Not even the threat of allowing in a deadly epidemic with a 70% kill rate.

All passengers coming from the west African countries that have Ebola outbreaks are only allowed to go through, IAD, ORD, EWR, JFK, or ATL. Neither of the Texas hubs are on that list, so anyone going to IAH, DFW or any other Texas airport would have to first go through one of the five airports I previously mentioned.

The only logical answer to this craziness is that our government does have a vaccine and are waiting to spring it at the politically right time. Or they are lost in never never land.
