Just weeks after three women passed a rigorous day-long test qualifying them to potentially lead US Marine infantrymen for the first time in history, news came that all three women have been asked to leave the course.
They were physically disqualified from the training last week for falling behind in hikes while carrying loads of upwards of 100 pounds, says Maj. George Flynn, director of the Infantry Officers Course (IOC) at Quantico, Va.

Yep! Can’t have a marching leader who’s lagging behind.
GEEEEE ..!!!!! That’s what we already have .. a leader who believes it’s okay to lead from behind.
We don’t want to go there again.
would YOU like to be carried if YOU can't walk??
do YOU still not understand why???
feh...
And there you have the crux of the issue.
You are correct from my perspective.
That or electrician perhaps. Hardly any womrn out there with colorblindness. If there are, it’s one in a million or an even smaller fraction.
You’ll have a job on to prove that posters on this thread who want women to equal the male soldiers they would command to be against women being equal members of society. Good luck.
But then, in the less than 30 days you’ve been a Freeper you’ve called Joe Biden a good senator and taken open hand slaps at Ted Cruz.
Welcome to Free Republic. Before you buy a house on Jim Robinson Drive, you might want to check out the neighborhood.
In the Marines everyone does things about 2 or 3 ranks above what would happen in other services. Army A-teams have commissioned officers, USMC recon teams are run by an NCO.
Marine NCO’s are given tasks that would be given to officers elsewhere. And this goes right up the food chain.
A major probably does command that unit which is a section of a larger command.
The USMC has the lowest officer to enlisted of all the services.
The military is not a social program.
It is one of the many 'courses' at Camp Barrett, aka the 'venue'. He isn't in charge of the venue, just IOC.
I’ve been reading FreeRepublic since well before 2008. I do not agree with all that is written just as I suspect some folks would not agree with my conservative view on many topics.
Re Joe Biden. This one always gets me. Given the choice between keeping Obama in place or impeaching Obama and letting Biden finish out his term seems a no brainer. Biden may have flaws but I seriously doubt anyone questions his loyalty to America. Who would you trust in the White House: Obama or Biden. On that question, who here would choose Obama?
It shouldn’t be, but apparently it is. Social engineering seems to have become paramount over any other concern. Just another lovely aspect of PC that will get us all killed.
Not most, all the women, and 6% of the men. As far as EVERYONE carrying a 124# pack, who shouldn't carry it? Just the guys spread load the 372# of the women and the women go slick? After all, if the women carried nothing, the guys would only have their load increased 7#, that seems fair.
I absolutely question his loyalty to America. If he had the tiniest shred of concern about America he would have resigned long ago in disgust. He hasn't because he doesn't.
To your other points: women absolutely do not belong in the combat arms.
Nature is sexist.
You are in need of a very simple answer to all your confusion about this topic........
Women and men are NOT physically equal!!!!!
NOT PHYSICALLY EQUAL!
Ok, can I assume that you think that having women in combat is a good thing?
Why do we need to bring women into combat? Because they are lethal on their period?
There MAY be some good things about having women in combat, but there are about a million things that are bad about that...Of course, if your claim is that discrimination is a terrible thing no matter where it happens? On the battle field the only goal is to kill more of the enemy than they kill of our side. Leave women in support positions, that will allow more men to be on the battlefield...
I am not one of them. I know that he is a muslim.
Sounds about right to me.
Thanks for your service.
1. No, women should not be in combat. I would not want my daughter to be in such a position. Further, I would not want my son to be in combat depending on a person who has reached the situation due to reduced standards. The Marines motto of no man left behind implies that every one of them can walk with far more than 100 lbs of extra weight.
2. Women should be free to serve in the military in support roles. No, they should not be drafted. The purpose of a draft is to raise combat troops.
3. Women have equal rights under the U.S. Constitution. I would vote for a Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann for President in a heartbeat and so would many of the posters on this thread who see no good reason to put women into combat.
There is an underlying theological question here. It is posited as a difference between the complementarian and egalitarian positions. I stand with the complementarians. I think my position stated above flows from these beliefs.
