Stephen Harper spent about 15 minutes hidden in a Parliament Hill closet after a gunman stormed Centre Block where he and the rest of the Conservative caucus were guarded by MPs whod fashioned sharp spears from flagpoles, sources say.
After they heard gunfire outside their meeting room door Wednesday, members of Parliament snapped close to 15 flagpoles to make weapons.
Some positioned themselves on risers that flanked doors, ready to attack an assailant.

Spears. Now that is Funny.
Ours would fill their Depends, and then pass out.
“Islamics only understand medieval response.”
Impaled criminals worked for Vlad Tepes when he had issues with Muslims.
;-)
An interesting factoid on military service.
Texas produced 16,000 active duty in 2004 alone, Canada had 28,000 enlistments from 2003 to 2008.
Obligatory “that’s rassist” comment regarding spears...
You nailed it: suicide of the West indeed.
Its odd given the general awareness of historical fact that he is not recognized for the good he did but for mostly evils committed by a fictional double.
or, they could give their guards a few rounds of ammunition..
Maybe should hire Barney Fife......
The best outcome would have been to emerge from the Parliament with the perp’s head on a pole.
This is what I keep telling y’all about our soft-spoken, mild-mannered friends to the north.
When the SHTF, you can count on the Canucks going all ‘In Search of Fire’, medieval Lord of the Flies.
Spears.
Dayum.
Mebbe the next Republican administration can walk some ARs and AKs north of the border.
I only wonder what things have been like has a group of ten or twenty armed Jihadis had attacked rather than one dude. This happened in Mubai India. What if they captured the building? Or if they did this in a state government building? Let us be thankful the ISIS only has this to respond to our attacks.
No sir!
Over half of Texas State Legislators are armed on the floor of both houses!
Had the jihadi showed up in either house, about 100 pistols would have gleefully opened up on him!
There would not have been any stick carving or chair stacking! They would have begged him to “come on in”!
Indeed, it is a known fact that the quickest access to the Capitol Building is a CCL holder! They just show their license and walk right in avoiding the line.
“God Blessed Texas”
I recall reading that some Texas legislators kept concealed firearms on their persons.
The impact of having no real network, no solid connection, between the anti-social jihadist wannabees and ISIS make it a very effective method of inducing terror, which is what terrorism is all about. Best approach is to annihilate Islam right here in the US, starting with the jihadist training camps, and followed by a roundup of anyone who bitches about the first phase.
Agreed
The way I see it, some loose lefty command ashaoles in the Reserve /Regular military interface did not understand , even after international security warnings, that Canadas military was in danger, that guards at the National Memorial needed to be armed, or at least have a magazine full of ammo for their rifles to defend themselves. They were guards in name only.
Thats a FAIL.
Also the fact that lone wolf Bibeau made it through the door of Parliament, without being fired upon by dozens of armed guards inside the door at the check point: FAILURE. Lucky Vickers was the there. Now what will happen when there could be a cadre of tangos in an organized attack? Dozens of politicians would die.......( but no one seems to care about that...go figure.)Every Canadian should be a Vickers, thats the way it used to be.
Heads should be rolling in Parliament but all thats happining is a CYA exercise in two languages. Soon others will die in two languages, but terrorist bullets and plastique won’t be bilingual ( therefore they are not recognizable as a threat?). Thats what the thinking has been ever since that faggot psychopomp, liberal fascist Pierre Elliot Trudeau was the PM.Time to end THAT!
If anything the weakness of the Canadian goovernment and its poor excuse for security is shining through....and that is not the true Canadian character, which is obscured by the national politically correct group hug syndrome. That and 25 cents will get many people dead in the near future.
Thats the way it was with a lone wolf attack. Imagine a coordinated ISIS attack with suicide vests? Talk about our federal government being unprepared? And wallowing in it! SICK!
The terrorists cannot believe their good luck.
Count on it.
***hand-fashioned spears.***
And why not! A book on home defense I read 45 years ago said that if someone broke into your home you should retreat to your “safe room”, break apart a pair of scissors and tape the point to a broom handle!
Smart thinking!
As for me and my house, a 13 round double stacked magazine works best.
Whereas in Arkansas they just stab each other to death on the floor of the legislature.

Posters on this thread who think of CF as a bunch of fools, beholden to their countries’ urban gun laws had better think again.
Most Americans don’t know how to handle a firearm either,
Most Americans including our Mombasan president couldn’t tell a revolver from a pepper-shaker,(no, not a pepper shaker revolver)
and many Canadians were army cadets like Cpl Cirillo,
and could outshoot you with an old Lee Enfield converted to .22.
Frankly, Canada gives us something to emulate now that our own demographic Mohammedan bomb has gone off:
a heterogeneous society whose leaders for the moment are not afraid to say the T word.
You might be surprised. The Texas capitol is the only courthouse in the state where concealed carry is acceptable.
There is a separate security line for CHL carriers.
Whenever I tell my Texan friend I want to move to Texas from New Jersey, he tells me that the weather is terrible, eggs cost 20 bucks a dozen, and the cockroaches are the size of small dogs.
But the armed legislature thing might make it worth it.
