Hearing gunshots, Vickers grabbed his side arm, a semi-automatic pistol, and immediately ran out. His security team, who had been chasing Bibeau, yelled to Vickers that the suspect was hiding in the alcove
Vickers immediately ran behind the other side of the pillar. That put him an arm's-length away from Bibeau.
According to guards, Vickers actually could see the barrel of Bibeau's gun pointing out, a foot away.
Vickers did not hesitate.
In one motion, sources told CBC News he dove to the floor around the pillar, at the feet of Bibeau, turning on his back as he landed and simultaneously firing his weapon upwards at Bibeau.
Bibeau was hit multiple times and fell to the ground. Vickers kept firing, emptying his entire magazine.

American Liberals/Progressives would cry 'excessive force', not understanding the need to completely disarm the attacker. A bullet to the heart does not stop a man immediately as in the movies. The target is the brain and multiple shots are used to try to stave off more shots from the attacker.

That’s what I practice at the range every time I go. Last visit was two days ago! When you read about the Canadian Sgt-at-Arms, you just have to wonder where have all the Americans gone who would have reacted as he did. The video of him returning from killing the assailant, with the pistol still in his hand, shows you a very composed individual. Our House counterpart would be somewhere in a corner crapping himself, would be my guess.
According to sources, Vickers calmly got up after the firing was over and went back to his office to reload his gun in case a threat remained.

I heard a friend of Vickers on TV say that Vickers was a champion tactical shooter among cops up there. All ages, active and retired. A real dead-eye.
I assume he was absolutely positive there was only one threat.
I saw the video of him leading the sweep up the hallway. He had a number of other armed officers right behind him. So I think he was safe in emptying his weapon.

While I do not agree with the vandalism, I can understand it, since Cold Lake is where our 6 CF-18s serving ‘in country’ against ISIS are based. It is an RCAF and ‘oil sands’ city. Cold Lake is home to the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range and hosts squadrons from many NATO countries, as the geography is similar to Northern Europe and Russia.
Of all of the places this d!psh!t could have attacked, he starts shooting right outside the office door of the best shot in Canada.
