And to think that the DemocRATS and the Chamber of Commerce RINOs want to further decrease earnings via “Immigration Reform” (known to clear thinkers as AMNESTY).
VOTE CONSERVATIVE; DON’T VOTE RINO.
That is exactly what I did. As a sole prop. it isn't too bad...just don't get sick or look to be able to have any time off. The hard part I have found is making the leap to having employees. If you weren't set-up for taking on employees before 0bama, it is extremely cost prohibitive now.
Yay, I’m ahead of the curve.
I use my kids for overflow work. I'm holding off on employees for as long as possible. If I ever have to, it will be contract. But some businesses can't do that.
“We are witnessing the slow-motion destruction of the middle class, and very few of our leaders seem to care.”
Why should they? They’ve got theirs.
Educational attainment is a rough proxy for
1) IQ,
2) diligence, and
3) acquired skill.
It’s no surprise that graph plays out as it does.
A lot of high school graduates/some college at that level have more disposable income than our household once you figure out the value of their food stamps, rent and housing subsidies and all the other government bennies for which I am ineligible.
“If you weren’t set-up for taking on employees before 0bama, it is extremely cost prohibitive now.”
Living that every day, trying to make a buck for my Corporate Masters. Those EVIL White, Christian Men that keep me employed. ;)
Soon as the MSM see this, we will be overwhelmed with articles about McWages, McJobs, working poor...

I sold my businesses and like you, the next won’t have employees - and will be based in a country that welcomes capital.
[Warning: an installment of War and Peace follows ...]
Not all of the job loss has been shipping work overseas. A lot of it is automation, which is a mixed blessing.
More and more of the heavy lifting at the factory where I work is automated. By myself, with automation, I can move 32 refrigerators at a time. Or, in shipping, by myself I can band and shrink wrap pallets of four refrigerators and roll the whole wad down the line for a forklift to take out to a waiting semi truck.
Some of these tasks were done by hand by 2, 3 or even 4 people.
Peeps where I work make +/- $10 per hour. I make more, but the low wages are a real drag. Thus, why bring in more illegals? Soon there will be no jobs for them.
Many of my co-workers who start at $8.50 per hour and move up (whoop, whoop! NOT) to $9 or $10 an hour still receive public assistance.
Thus, bringing in more illegals is pointless.
That said ... my BIL is a college professor and his wife is a teacher. She also works part time as a grocery cashier.
My husband just started work at a different factory. Because he is a good worker he will soon be making more than me. We also have a farm.
Our two families together add up to 8 people. We adults have 3 jobs per couple and all of our older kids are working. The younger ones help on the farm of course.
And, guess what. We are all still broke because the price of gas and groceries has sky-rocketed while our wages remain flat and grain prices tend downward.
When we were growing up, a farmer and college prof could have easily supported their whole families.
Putting on my tin-foil hat ... maybe low-wage jobs are a ploy by the government to keep tabs on more people. More on assistance means more under government control :(
However, creativity cannot be automated. I have told the kids to be the guy who programs the robots, not the guy who punches the buttons to run the robot. And keep imagining better ways of doing things.
Straight commission sales can be lucrative if you are willing to work very hard, learn the product, and take the risk to make your own destiny. God Bless Capitalism!

not as long as that guys in the white hut.
Median pay: $28,000
That statistic is incredible and unsustainable. It indicates how badly skewed the economy is toward the ruling class. And what are the geniuses in DC doing? Well, letting the US be flooded with even more unskilled and low income invaders.
These numbers astound me! I’m at the 115k mark with bachelor’s and 7 technical certifications within IT...I don’t see how these numbers are real but I guess the numbers don’t lie! And oh that’s in Ohio too not CA where that $$ doesn’t matter...this is astounding to me
Caveat: We have more persons in their later years who are already drawing Sockal Security and working part-time or seasonal to supplement.
While I agree things look bad, they aren't as bad as these statistics portray.
Good luck with “contract” workers! Check out the requirements to meet the contractor standards! Most companies can’t meet those standards anymore.
1. Drive everyone to minimum wage.
2. Blame the Republicans.
3. Attempt to become heroes for raising the minimum wage.
