Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont said Thursday that some Americans "never want to have" another black president. The Hill reports that Leahy made the comments during an appearance on PBS' "Tavis Smiley" show. Urgent: Do You Support an Ebola Travel Ban? Vote Here Now. "Get out and move around America. You'll find plenty of examples of racial prejudice," Leahy said. "There are those who never want to have another African-American president, and that would be another very, very bad thing for this country." Leahy, who took office in 1975, supports President Barack Obama who in 2008 became the first black president in the nation's history. But Leahy, according to The Hill, said Obama getting elected to the Oval Office is just the start of a trend that needs to happen. Obama came under fire last month for comments he made at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner. The president told black leaders "most Americans" think the criminal justice system suffers from institutional racism. Obama's comments came on the same night a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. was shot. Ferguson has been the site of massive protests and riots after police there shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in August.

A “black” president is not the problem. “History” can still be made when we elect the first AMERICAN “black” president.
Ditto that. Someone once said something about the content of character.
The problem is that when you have a liberal democrat president, no one challenges him because he is black and they dont want to be considered racist. He operates above the law.
If we were to have a black conservative president, and we have numerous stars that would do a fine job, it would be a daily non stop high tech lynching from the press. So either way can we afford to have another black president?
I'd much rather see the criminals in this administration doing the jail terms they have earned rather than make Blacks in the future pay for their sins.
So the real test of the absence of racism in America, Senator Leahy is when the first black president can be impeached. It is when politicians like you cease to exploit racism in America for personal and ideological gain. It is when racist politics as practiced by the left become so universally abhorrent that to do so would be encounter even more social opprobrium than to be proclaimed a racist in the sense which you so cynically exploit.
I’ll take just about anybody who is not working for new world order or any other criminals.
Remember that Leahy was one of the Democrat Party senators, along with Biden, Kennedy and Metzenbaum, leading the lynching party against Clarence Thomas.
Leahy has been herding black people into the plantation for many, many years.
Would need so serious vetting during primaries and election. No more free passes. Barry who? Sukarno?
It would be hilarious to run blacks candidates for both president and VP and have them promise to put only blacks in top cabinet positions.
We could make a list of black conservatives who would run rings around the loser, incompetent AHs Obama put in.
I would love to see Row 2, Column 6 take on “Hillary” (TM) in 2016.
I want Hillary to tell Condi to her face that she doesn’t understand women or “urban issues”, and hopefully Ms. Clinton will use that “black preacher” twang she takes on when speaking south of the Mason-Dixon line - you know all the “I see a lot of good people workin’ hard, raisin’ their families, doin’ what they can...” We might just see the first knockout punch thrown during a Presidential debate.
Yes I know about CR’s abortion views, but if Hillary wins you get that and about ten thousand other things that will pretty much be last call for this country.
Using the MSM definition Obama with white-black. He doesn’t have pure down for the struggle blood.
Given the track record of black run cities (and now America), Atlanta, Birmingham, Detroit, DC, would anyone want black leadership? Yes yes. I know, I know. THAT’S RACIST.
I do not want another black “president” ever, nor do I want a female president. I want the best qualified person, and if it happens to be Dr. Ben Carson or Governor Sarah Palin, I’m okay with that. What I’m not okay with is choosing based on diversity rather than qualifications and ability.
Couldn’t care less about the pigmentation.
I do care a great deal about their character and philosophy.
West, Thomas, Sowell, Williams...all men of tremendous character and Constitutional respect.
Obama? None of it.
“Some Americans ‘Never Want’ Another Black President”
I didn’t want one to start with.
Maybe, people will never elect another black democratic president for a long time. I know I would vote for any good conservative presidential candidate even if they had orange spots and were purple!
What Leahe means is America will never have another communist Black American.
Nope. The same jerks who voted this pos in would vote for another in a NY minute.
...and I got to shake Tim Scott’s hand yesterday. My senator! A proud moment for me...racism was nowhere in site in a huge white crowd applauding for him.
This is one thing I’m afraid of. I believe the only real difference the next time a black man runs for president is that no one will vote for him BECAUSE he is black. I think a lot of people — white as well as black — voted for Obama initially because they wanted “a black president,” and then voted for him again because they thought voting him out “would look bad.”
But now that America has “shown the world we can elect a black president,” a lot of those white people are DONE. The next race with a black man in it, whether they vote for the black man will be based on the issues, not on his race.
My fear is that a fair percentage of those voters will vote for a female president the same way — just because she is female — but I hope that doesn’t happen. Or if it does, that the female in question is nothing like Obama!
Correction - We never want another SOCIALIST president.
NO !!!!! If he really wanted it he'd be running for the HOR or US Senate (even if it would've meant moving) and get involved in the DC fray, so we can see how he handles current situations. Same with Dr. Carson.
They have to get there, and say LOUD AND CLEAR that voting for Obama was a mistake and tells blacks that they have to step up and acknowledge that, or we'll never trust them to be objective if there's another black president.
That's the real issue. That we can't trust blacks to stand up and disagree, even when a "black" president has policies that are destroying them.
