Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent the early part of the 2014 midterms traveling the country endorsing conservative candidates in Republican primary races, hoping to leave her mark on the future of the GOP.
But on Wednesday, Palin rebuked her Republican successor in her home state, endorsing independent gubernatorial candidate Bill Walker, who is running on a "unity ticket" with Democratic running mate Byron Mallott, instead. Palin's endorsement goes against her former lieutenant governor, Gov. Sean Parnell, who assumed office in 2009 when Palin abruptly resigned and is embroiled in a highly contested race for reelection to a second full term.
Palin offered the endorsement at a campaign reception in her Wasilla home, according to press release issued by Walker.
Parnell's 2013 restructuring of the state's oil and gas taxes dismantled a prior, Palin-championed program that she considered to be one of the greatest achievements of her tenure. That difference of opinion is at the heart of Palin's conflict with Parnell, which resulted in the two campaigning on opposite sides of a ballot measure in this year's primary.
Parnell dismantled Palin's oil-tax increase, called ACES (short for Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share), by signing a repeal of some oil taxes in 2013 that was intended to curb the state's production decline. But many fear the measure will severely diminish the revenue brought in by the state, where oil and gas taxes have accounted for as much as 90 percent of government funds.
Palin backed an initiative to repeal the new law, SB 21, when it appeared on the August primary ballot, which put her at odds with Parnell. (Palin accused Parnell of being "suckered" by "crony capitalists" at the time.) The referendum narrowly failed, garnering 47 percent of the vote as the state's Republican U.S. Senate primary attracted conservative voters

I didn’t support the endorsement.
I also would not vote for “Keep abortion legal” Cronyist Parnell.
They said ACES would force them to drill on public land they would rather sit on. They called SB21 a tax cut and you say its the same taxes.
The "No" vote approved SB21. The net effect was to encourage oil companies to drill, as Shell announced per my earlier post. It's roughly the same percentage, a flat 35%, not "the same taxes".
BTW does this article quote Palin anywhere? Has Palin made any statement at all about this?
You opine: “Apart from the Palinistas here at FR who keep telling themselves that the Palin children having a drunken obscene brawl was a GOOD THING...
most people know better...”
Some of us suspicioned that the liberal media stretched the truth a bit and now we have caught up with the REAL story that is now out - the one that made even the biggest lib Palin family basher APOLOGISE for her story - and the networks reporting of the incident.
SOME of us do a little research before pontification about something we know nothing about - and swallow the libRats reporting on it.
(It seems that, increasingly, either FR has slowly been infiltrated with Rats - or too many of the old Freepers have left the field to the nattering nabobs)
You are not trying to describe Norm are you?
You do realize that Goldwater held those same positions, at least privately until he no longer mattered right?
“Palin hasn’t said who she endorses. Walker claims she endorsed him. I’ll wait to see what she says.”
24 hours have elapsed since Walker announced that Sarah Palin had endorsed him and since Alaska papers first reported it, and the national media has been running the story for over 12 hours now, and still no refutation from Palin. Even if Walker is lying (and I betcha that he isn’t), Palin has permitted him to spread those lies unanswered so as to help that POS liberal fool conservative Alaskans. And you two are jumping over the cliff with her.
there is no such thing as lesser of 2 evils.
that phrase was invented by the US Army in the 30’s
The MSM lies unless what they’re pushing supports your pet opinions. ;-)
See my post #167. What’s wrong with you today? You’re not usually this naïve.
If he supports Bill Walker over Sean Parnell, then yes I am.
Good questions.
Seeing this “news” is now 12 hours old and no denials or tweets by Palin, then yeah. Its a safe bet she actually did this.
We aren't the ones taking 2nd hand info as gospel nor did we try to claim Romney is Conservative.
Want a parachute?
Bullfeathers. Barry Goldwater became pro-abortion as a senile old man who was going along with what his wife told him, but he never took any of the other liberal positions that I described (and that Bill Walker supports).
PUrists ... voting for somebody on a secret ballot without comment is equated to:
-publicly endorsing him
-sending him money
-signing a pledge card to be on his permanent team
-including him in your will.
This is a dillusion and people who believe fantasy to be reality are either liars or mentally ill.
If the day comes where you must sign your ballot and publicly announce support, similar to a caucus ... perhaps “none of the above” will often be the best choice.
When the hell did I claim that Romney was a conservative? I specifically called him a liberal. But I also pointed out that he was far, far to the right of your new idol Bill Walker.
Where did I support someone that I don’t know? What post?
and Sarah fought them - the cronies - to the mat - before she was governor.
If you aren’t supporting Bill Walker, good for you. You’ve done better than Sarah Palin today. But I hope that when you finally accept that Sarah Palin did endorse Walker (I reiterate, she would not have let the story spread nationally and not rebut it unless it was true) you decide to support the conservative over the liberal.
And yet one of us 9not me) voted for that very thing/s in Mitt Romeny.
Odd logic.
