One reporters opinion isnt the end-all, be-all of political analysis. But as a respected, Boston-based reporter, Andy Hillers contention that Brown won the debate last night is worth listening to nonetheless.
Shaheen lost the debate because she had to spend so much time on the defensive, explaining the presidents policies on Ebola, Obamacare, ISIS and immigration, he said. She was much more effective in the second half when she directly challenged Brown.
But Brown won, he continued. He never looked uncomfortable, he has cable network level communication skills, and in this debate the issues were on his side. He wasnt perfect, but best for him, hes not President Obama.
Andy Hiller: There Were Three People On Stage Last Night
I wrote in my post last night that Brown was indeed relaxed under fire, which admittedly wasnt an easy thing to do given how partisan the crowd was. Most of the audience was comprised of Shaheen supporters (or so it seemed to me) and therefore Brown handled himself well in a hostile environment.
But what Im most curious about is the way Granite State voters who watched it at home reacted to the debate. My sense from being at the venue itself, and following the #nhsendebate hashtag all night long on Twitter, was that the overwhelming consensus was that Shaheen won. Perhaps at best, then, we can say it was a draw.
I dont know how many votes [this debate] will change, Hiller asserted in the clip above. But if Im right, and Scott Brown was the winner, then this very close race will get even closer.
Thirteen days.
NH would be a great pickup.

Yay, a liberal Republican beat a liberal Democrat in a debate
It’s a liberal world.
New Hampshire is smack dab in the heart of RINO New England. In this race the lesser of two evils is the only choice to make.
I’m just glad I don’t have to vote for him.
The sad thing is when republicans win it will be the Browns and McCains and Collins that will be in control.
I think Roberts will pull it out....and win...
I think every senate race poll is off by not factoring in the Harry Reid eck factor....
The man is a worm and most folks with functioning brains really don’t want to see him as majority leader anymore...
>>The sad thing is when republicans win it will be the Browns and McCains and Collins that will be in control.
THEY ALREADY ARE (kinda).
if Scott Brown wins, his eye will be on 2020. This guy has presidential aspirations.
That “liberal Republican” is the guy who necessitated the Democrats to use reconciliation to pass Obamacare, which is our best chance of getting the crap sandwich tossed!
“Im just glad I dont have to vote for him.”
The same goes for me too.
2020. for which party?
Is 2020 going to be Brown (D) vs Cruz (R)?
Democrats

Obamacare’s not going anywhere, and Scott Brown will not help us.
Its a liberal world.

You’ve got that right. And, the U.S. is getting more liberal with each passing year. The day will come when Conservatism in American politics is obsolete; and that will be a sad day.

That scares the hell out of me. All the ballots have been mailed out in CO. That whole system is tailor-made for vote fraud. Libs will collect all unwanted ballots from disinterested friends and family member as well as dumpsters, and mail them in marked straight DemocRAT. If Udall loses in CO, it will be only because of Divine intervention.
The other thing this woman’s comments tell us is that democrats know blacks don’t show up to vote in the same numbers as other racial groups.
The old way of voter fraud - when I was young - was to vote ‘for’ black people. Just take the cards of blacks who didn’t show up and punch the holes for them.
