FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) Missouri State Senator Jamilah Nasheed had a gun in her possession at the time she was arrested Monday night outside the Ferguson Police Department, according to Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson.
Nasheed declined comment about the having the weapon, but did tell News 4 she has a concealed carry permit.
Sources also told News 4 Ferguson police requested St. Ann to administer a breathalyzer test at the time of her arrest, but Nasheed refused to do so. Nasheed said Tuesday she was not intoxicated at the time.
Nasheed was formally charged with Failure to Obey Lawful Order of Police and Manner of Walking in the Roadway. She was released from St. Ann jail before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
"It was a symbolic arrest - sending a message to the protesters that we can protest peacefully and that we must protest peacefully and that we want justice for Michael Brown, but we don't want it in vein," Nasheed said outside the jail Tuesday morning.

She _said_ it. It was the reporter who spelled it.

Id blame that one on the reporter, who was quoting what she said, not what she wrote. Semi literate reporter relies on spell check rather then (joke) proper proof reading. which wouldn't have mattered since the reporter probably doesn't know the difference between vain and vein.

If that were a Republican the headlines would read “Republican” Sen. Nasheed . . . . Nothing but a publicity stunt.

Even Jamilah Nasheed knows she needs to protect herself from the Thugs she’s running with.
To: MrB
Agreed. If she has a CCW permit and was carrying and was drunk, so violated the law. Refusing the intoxication test should have been cause for immediate revocation of the CCW and requirement that she handle her firearm in a fashion required for non-CCW permit holders.
