Anyone flying to the United States from Ebola-affected countries in West Africa must enter the country through one of five airports screening for the disease, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh C. Johnson said Tuesday as the Obama administration stepped up precautions to stop the spread of the virus.
Last week, the government instituted temperature checks for West Africans arriving at Kennedy International in New York, Newark Liberty International, Washington Dulles International, OHare International in Chicago, and Hartsfield-Jackson International in Atlanta. The five airports already account for 94 percent of all arrivals from the affected countries, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. A fever is one symptom of the disease and an indication that the person could be infectious.

Airport screening on arrival? After they’ve spent hours confined with a hundred or more people? And then what?
“Do you have Ebola?”
“No.”
“OK, you can go.”
WHEN is this tyrant going to be removed from office????
F**KING BRILLIANT.
Now that this is info is out, all an infected resident has to do is make his way to one of the nearby nations deemed CLEAR of ebola and depart from there!
Whew! Glad they’re only going to route these passengers through five American airports. The rest of us can all breath a sigh of relief....
NOT!
Good airports to avoid.
Read the headline carefully:
(yeah, you read it right the first time)
I’m wondering about sequencing of planes and gate availability. Airlines pay for gate spots (when available)so when new planes start showing up ... unless the passengers are offloaded out in the tarmac or someplace.
And what if someone screens positive for ebola after that long international flight, confined with 150 people - some of whom may have left the airport ahead of that person? How do they locate everyone who may have been exposed?
An international flight is long and provides incubation time for someone who may not have had symptoms when they got on that plane.
This is idiotic and backwards (or diabolical), as usual with obama.
What would the United States look like if the slums in New York City, Newark, Washington, Atlanta, and Chicago were literally decimated by Obola?
I suggest that perhaps we would never have to suffer another Senator Schumer, Clinton, Obama, etc.
There are no direct flights from the Ebola-affected countries, so everyone who travels from there to here does that already. This new rule applies to all travellers from the affected countries, regardless of whether they departed from somewhere else.
Im OK with this, if it is five airports in Africa!!!!

I don’t want the US govt. to let anyone from those “hot zone” country’s into any of our airports. I’m not willing to risk the lives of my fellow countrymen and my family for no good reason.
If Obama truly believes that negative impacts to African economies outweighs our safety, let him divert the aid money is is giving to Hamas and Pakistan and pay them to stay home until this Ebola outbreak is eradicated.
So what if a passenger from an Ebola country just shows up on a flight to Boston or San Francisco? What do they do then?

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
