In response to fears of Ebola spreading within the U.S., the Pentagon is forming a quick strike team consisting of 30 people.
Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Sunday that the medical support team will feature 20 critical care nurses, five doctors and five trainers who specialize in infectious disease protocols. The team is composed of civilian health care providers though no names have been released at this point. The team was created in response.....

How close is this to the new quarantine number of 42 instead of 21?

Good post.
By the way, this reaction team isn’t totally new either, it is similar to the Aeromedical Isolation Team that was disbanded in 2010.
It seems that we do have some resources, but that they have been so shelved and ignored that they are covered with cobwebs and probably (evidently?) not ready for primetime.
I hope that this Ebola event is enough to get us to start treating these precautions and preparations as important enough to maintain in a more ready status than as just something on paper.
“Uh, folks, IIRC the military has no business being deployed in the USA unless the governors request their presence due to invasion.....”
Posse comitatus is really not that restrictive. It only restrains the military from being used for law enforcement, it imposes no restrictions on other purposes, such as dealing with a public health crisis.
THIRTY people.
This is looking busy PR.
this is nothing work just a political BS. CNN MSNBC ABC CBS FNC NPR will NEVER mention it is only 30 people. An just nurses and doctors with a 72 hour “get going time”.
In three days, it is too late.
“Those body boxes that have been stacking up all over USA, a billion dollars worth”
That’s a total myth, they were plastic coffin liners stored by a private company that manufactures them for sale. Had nothing to do with the government.
Yet, someone takes some photos of them, and puts them on the internet with a scare story, and folks like you swallow it hook, line and sinker.
I don’t think that is correct. A separate law was passed under GWB that granted more powers but I don’t think PC was ever repealed. Then, the law that was passed during the Bush administration was repealed. Obama has since passed a different law, but again, it doesn’t repeal PC, just creates some exception.
I was curious as well. Apparently stands for the “Beak of Rome”. Where Schnabel is beak. Everything I found indicates he was a plague doctor during the bubonic plague.
From Wiki:
A plague doctor (Italian: medico della peste, Dutch: pestmeester, Spanish: médico de la peste negra, German: Pestarzt) was a special medical physician who treated those who had the plague.[1] They were specifically hired by towns that had many plague victims in times of plague epidemics. Since the city was paying their salary, they treated everyone: both the rich and the poor.[dubious discuss][2] However, some plague doctors were known for charging patients and their families extra for special treatments and/or false cures.[3] They were not normally professionally trained experienced physicians or surgeons, and often were second-rate doctors not able to otherwise run a successful medical business or young physicians trying to establish themselves.
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which (according to the miasmatic theory of disease) was seen as the cause of infection.
The drawing was supposedly satirical. Likely calling him a quack.
