Out here in the oil patch the majority of new workers are Hispanic and their birth rate is much higher than Anglos. Many women are single mothers. Our local school district is building two new elementary schools, unheard of for a small town. They estimated 500 new students this year and they have nearly 600! And most are grades K-3. And though unmentioned, most students are Hispanic.
For work, if men can speak partial English, pass a drug test and drive a dump truck or 18-wheeler, they can get a job! Stores, restaurants, gas stations, Walmart, etc. all have bilingual clerks as Spanish is rapidly replacing English in these businesses.
A friend that works as a supervisor for a roofing co. may lose his job because he can’t speak Spanish.
Absolutely disgraceful...
