To maintain, as does Dr. Frieden, that stopping travel to the U.S. from the few countries where Ebola is running rampant would somehow harm us is illogical to the point of absurdity. And it is now clear to every other sentient being that Ebola is far more contagious, and deadly, than AIDS, to which Dr. Frieden compared Ebola. The latest nugget is that Amber Vinson, the second Dallas nurse diagnosed with Ebola, called the CDC numerous times before boarding her flight from Cleveland back to Dallas and was told it was OK for her to fly because her fever did not quite reach the protocolized threshold!

That is exactly what I am doing. No shopping for anything but essentials. No orders to Amazon with deliveries from the Dallas warehouse. No travel, we have cancelled Thanksgiving and Christmas travel plans already and I’ve called clients already to tell them I am canceling scheduled classes for the rest of the year specifically citing the Ebola crisis and my principles. The reception to the cancellation was not harsh. I’ve shut down all non-essential travel from the farm. If and only if people will do this will it have any effect. If only 20% did this the effect would be stark and soon.
If the woman who runs Liberia were truly sorry for what has happened she would self-quarantine as well and forbid Liberians from traveling. Doing that takes conviction that few have.
My associates in Dallas tell me it is becoming like a ghost town. It needs to. It is not safe for people to gather when exposed people are being allowed to self-monitor and self-quarantine. Self-government without self-discipline won’t work. There is not much self-discipline any more.
These lulls in activity between active infections will shorten until the rate of infection becomes steady and the way things are being done the numbers of new active infections will become steady.
EV-D68 is also brought by Obola. It will kill and paralyze many children. The poster child quote for this infection needs to be what one child said last week as she slipped into paralysis from EV-D68... “Mommy, I can’t feel my hands.”
Obola is not running, his policies and his party are. The Republicans stand for nothing but they do not seem malicious in intent and incompetence against us. This needs to be the anti-deomocrat campaign message...

Well, to be fair, he's one of the best dance jiggers around.
Political loyalty, support of the political agenda, manipulation of the media, destruction of political rivals are qualities vastly more important to this administration then competency, practical accomplishment, subject knowledge or the health and welfare of American citizens.
From what I’ve read, the Republicans have guaranteed amnesty if they get control. If this is correct, then to quote the Hildabeast, “What difference does it make?”
And that is only further support to my premise that the government is out of control from both sides.
This government only answers to politics, power, money, self-interest and self-promotion.
There is probably only one way to save it at this point.
By the time that hundreds to thousands of Americans are dead, it really will be too late. By then, the damage in fear and economic loss will be far greater. People won’t feel like public places, transportation, etc. people won’t also feel like trusting the government, and a possible rise for domestic anarchist/insurrectionist groups.
I’m not quite as self-restricting as you are. But I did purchase my winter supplies (ability to stay in the house without purchasing anything for six weeks) and that includes plenty of recreational activities. But I do go places for chores, just being sure to get things done early in the morning and never in crowded places.
