[From Nov. 2, 2011] Rand Paul Defends Herman Cain – Complains that Women Can’t Take a Joke

So Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.), who likes to tie women up and leave them in a creek is complaining that women are entirely too sensitive these days, that “they can’t take a joke.” As he told the National Review “There are people now who hesitate to tell a joke to a woman in the workplace, any kind of joke, because it could be interpreted incorrectly. I don’t. I’m very cautious.”

Ignore whether it was a smear or not. Rand said something stupid and it is a bigger issue than pandering to blacks or hispanics.

He should have just said it was a smear against Cain

There was nothing to gain by what Rand said. Ordinary dude Rand Paul is going to get votes by talking like this.

Not sure what Rand Paul said...I don’t pay much attention to him because I personally think he’s too much like his nutty father.

But..I will say this...men and women do not always find the same things funny. There are some ‘funny’ things posted here on FR that I just chose to ignore rather than get my big girl panties all in a twist...cuz guys just find some things funny that women don’t.

Rand ties women up and leaves them in creeks? At least he doesn’t leave them in submerged cars in ponds like Teddy did.

Isn’t this like 3 years old and a non-issue? Don’t understand dragging it back up?

I liked Herman Cain. I’m not a blind loyalist though. I expect a certain level of deportment out of people I support.

“Women, you increase your odds of keeping your men by being faithful, a lady in the living room and a whore in the bedroom.”

Replace “women” with wives and that statement is 100% valid. Not pc but the truth.

Rand wants to pander to blacks and gays but then he makes simple mistakes like this.

I couldn’t make anything out of this article and I tried to read it! Was the author on something?

Its not just women who are too sensitive these days either.

It makes me glad I grew up in a family where learning to defend yourself against ruthless harassment was just part of growing up.

I was a Herman Cain fan when he first made national news and I was behind his run. Even though he had no political experience I liked his bio.

Then when the allegations came out and the media started digging up women to attack him I really took his side. But, I am really disappointed that he never cleared things up like he said and that block buster report his lawyers and private investigators we said to be working on never appeared.

Exactly! My sister and I grew up knowing one thing for sure...never show fear when dealing w/ our brothers...or men in general. I’m not a ballbuster by any stretch. But I do know how to defend myself and what I believe in w/o being a witch. It’s actually more effective, IMO, to speak in a lower voice and to maintain eye contact.

I’ve also learned...from my family and in my job...to let some ‘jokes’ slide. No one gives a fig about my so called sensibilities. Comes down to picking your battles.

I also agree that it’s not just women who are sensitive. (for the love of gawd) I deal w/ plenty of men who get all uptight about things I wouldn’t have considered offensive.

Have to learn to let some stuff just slide. It’s about balancing what’s important, what you can change and what doesn’t really matter.

We talk a lot of trash in my family. And practical jokes, the more ruthless the better.

I was a big Herman Cain fan at first too, until it was crystal clear that he knew nothing about foreign policy or even the geographic location for some of American’s Allies.
Herman Cain’s profound ignorance of the world’s warring factions was both shocking and embarrassing. At least this was discovered in an interview, and his lack of knowledge was not unmasked at a Presidential Debate! EEK!
If Rand Paul is talking about all that Ginger White garbage, it makes me wonder how much a ‘fan’ of Cain, Rand really is.

Both Paul’s, father and son, specialize in giving stylized teases and provocations. Remember about three years back when Rand repeatedly offered to ‘meet up’ with Chris Christie, knowing all the while that Christie could not stand being anywhere near him? That little Cat and Mouse game dragged on for a couple of months.

Now about Rand Paul.... I completely agree with you.

I worked in a male dominated field one level under Corporate for almost 15 years. IMO men were way easier to work with than females and I truly liked the guys in our area. I’ve tried several times over the years to participate in women’s professional groups and finally decided no more. They are just a real pain in the dupa and get cranked over stuff that doesn’t really matter.

Re Herman - I had the pleasure of hearing him speak several times. In spite of some of his personal issues that weren’t too admirable, he did have experience and knowledge that far exceeds almost everyone on Obama’s current staff. Really wish he would pursue more of a local political position where his business talents could be used.

I gave up on reading this screed after 4 paragraphs.

If this is what we’re up against, we have one helluva struggle.

G_d help us all.
