DENVER (AP) The president of Frontier Airlines says a nurse who was on flights between Dallas and Cleveland and who later tested positive for Ebola may have been at a more advanced stage of the illness than previously thought.

Agreed.
Then again, the cruise line lawyers may be part of this as well. Liability issues will be huge if this person is infected.
Exactly!
“A helicopter flew onto a cruise ship to get a blood sample.”
Oh Dear Lord I didn’t know that. There is local talk that if need be she will be taken to UTMB in Galveston.
How long does the virus stay active if shed in seats, and other plane spaces?
The plane made 26 flights

Doh!!!!!
The plane made 26 flights
There would be a risk for people on those flights, especially those shortly after hers. Even without disinfection the plane would not be harboring ebola now.
SURVIVAL OUTSIDE HOST: Filoviruses have been reported capable to survive for weeks in blood and can also survive on contaminated surfaces, particularly at low temperatures (4°C). One study could not recover any Ebolavirus from experimentally contaminated surfaces (plastic, metal or glass) at room temperature. In another study, Ebolavirus dried onto glass, polymeric silicone rubber, or painted aluminum alloy is able to survive in the dark for several hours under ambient conditions (between 20°C and 25°C and 3040% relative humidity) (amount of virus reduced to 37% after 15.4 hours), but is less stable than some other viral hemorrhagic fevers (Lassa). When dried in tissue culture media onto glass and stored at 4 °C, Zaire ebolavirus survived for over 50 days. This information is based on experimental findings only and not based on observations in nature. This information is intended to be used to support local risk assessments in a laboratory setting.http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/lab-bio/res/psds-ftss/ebola-eng.php
They’re going to sue the hospital.
And maybe the CDC. And hopefully Obola—nah, that won’t happen, but should.
That would be at low temperatures with no sun exposure.
The toilet seats used by Ms. Vinson, at the terminals for all her airline flights, should be a concern for females who traveled on the same days and within hours of Ms. Vinson’s flights.
I’m guessing that, Ms. Vinson was more careful about that on the route home to Dallas.
They are not telling us a lot.
But, everyone involving westerners and having ebola I the USA has been ..
You survive if you
Have Zmapp
Have blood transfusions w survivor
You die
Without the above
I realize this is simplistic ... But I wish we knew if they were getting blood transfusions at least.
“She had worn protective gear including face shields, hazardous materials suits and protective footwear as she inserted catheters, drew blood and dealt with Duncan’s body fluids. She was working on three days when Duncan experienced “extensive production” of diarrhea and vomiting, the CDC said. “
Vinson was exhibiting symptoms that are common in the 7-9 day exposure period ...and maybe more symptoms than that.
She would have to be an ABSOLUTE IDIOT not to understand she was risking her health and the health of others when she made those flights.
I would be a nervous wreck.
It really doesn't matter how much protective gear the nurses wear if their doffing procedure is in correct. The nurse in Spain thinks that is how she was infected and I strongly suspect that is the case here as well.
All blame goes to federal government, its agencies and everyone who covers for them.
Twenty-nine of those being monitored came in contact with Amber Vinson or visited the same Akron dress shop where her bridesmaids tried on dresses Oct. 11. Vinson did not try on any dresses during the shopping trip, Summit County Health Commissioner Gene Nixon said.On Friday [10/18/2014], officials said 16 people were being monitored. But the number rose as more people who visited the dress shop came forward and as passengers on flights with Vinson between Dallas and Cleveland were contacted. An additional 87 Ohioans were on those flights and are among the total being monitored.
No problem, I appreciate the added information.
Seems labeling a nurse, highly trained as you stated, hardly deserves the nick of ‘bridezilla’. But that’s just me. It doesn’t seem to endure anyone to hearing all this valuable info being imparted.
So a highly trained nurse who KNOWS the symptoms of Ebola, knows she has them, knows her patient died from Ebola and knows another Nurse has been put in the hospital with Ebola AND AND AND knows she did not have good enough protective gear...isn’t at fault for exposing hundreds to her sickness???
There are liability laws about just this kind of thing.
Yes, she deserves the nickname BRIDEZILLA. She isn’t even getting married until next year. SHE DID NOT NEED TO TAKE THAT TRIP
