President Barack Obama urged Americans on Saturday not to succumb to hysteria about Ebola, even as he warned that "we may see more" cases and said fighting the deadly virus would require citizens, government leaders, and the media to pitch in.
In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama also pushed back against calls for the U.S. to institute a travel ban. Lawmakers have called it a common-sense step to prevent more people with Ebola from entering the U.S., but Obama said such a ban would only hamper aid efforts and screening measures.
"Trying to seal off an entire region of the world if that were even possible could actually make the situation worse," Obama said. [Who said anything about sealing off the region? How about just keeping them out of the country?]
"Fighting this disease will take time," Obama said. "Before this is over, we may see more isolated cases here in America. But we know how to wage this fight." [Mean like ISIS? Healthcare?]

Obola will create more ebola victims. A party hack cannot increase his power if he has no victims.
In this case he may have an opportunity to run up a taxpayer body count as a bonus.
How far would a democrat president have to go to get impeached today? It boggles the mind.
You would think that if they were in the clear they would be screaming it from the rooftops. It’s like they fell off the face of the earth. Something doesn’t add up here.
I see assertions they are well, and the lawyers have done some posturing, but not much else.
Isn’t it bad enough we’ve had the black plague ravaging this country since January 2009?
“to impeachment, and beyond!”
Military coup IS justified!
Citizens? As in the Level 4 unit beds long ago were filled with the elite of the elite. The healthcare workers have walked off the job. And we’re down to caring for our loved ones ourselves like West Africans are doing.
And if we do it is because of you, Obama.
“And why are so many liberals parroting the line that a travel ban makes it harder to fight Ebola in Africa????”
We wouldn’t want any precedent setting action keeping immigrants out would we.
If we stop immigration from West Africa, then later if/when ebola does make it to Central America
.well you can figure the rest out.
You’ bringing them in you America-hating marxist!
“May see more cases”
Translation: there are several known cases above and beyond what is already reported.
“Trying to seal off an entire region of the world if that were even possible could actually make the situation worse,” Obama said.
That is know as the “Big Lie” propaganda technique—tell a lie so big that people think no one would actually have the nerve to tell it so it has to be true.
There is also a machine that detects ebola within 1 hr. with 90% accuracy, but the FDA has not approved it. Fortunately, our military is already using it in Africa.
Story of that machine here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3216418/posts
Shutting down visas from hot spot countries, and borders, it the obvious answer...not expediting visas, and what I am hearing lately, actually bringing ebola sufferers here for treatment. Sounds like they want to use “expendable” guineau pigs, and be damned to the threat to our country.
I’m thinking we need to start looking for the donor or donors to the RAT party with substantial investments in Liberia. A couple of times now an expert has slipped and said the real reason the travel ban is not supported is the long-term harm on the Liberian economy. (guy with Brett Baier / FNC yesterday or the day before). He said something to the effect that “sure, short term it will prevent several cases from coming to the US but long-term it will harm their economy.”
EXCUSE ME? What economy might that be, the tourist economy? Who the heck wants to vay-cay in Liberia? And what the heck happens to OUR economy is Ebola gains a foothold?
Those words about not having scheduled commercial airline service will prevent aid is nonsense. What, will the US military fly commercial? Can no one charter a plane? Can’t the Air Force run a schedule of sorts if it comes down to that?
No, look for the cronies. Something’s up.
You are not missing anything. We are bringing in 150 people a day who may be incubating and the numbers will increase along with the percentage that are incubating the virus.
However, "sealing off" is a red herring, don't fall for it. Nobody seriously suggests sealing off part of Africa as a way of fighting the virus. They have border and regional controls all over Africa to control the spread, but nowhere is it "sealed off". They tried that in West Point and it was pointless The people in West Point are still alive and kicking, they were more careful around infected people and kept from being infected. They always need to find and extract infected people before they get too bad, and there is a shortage of treatment facilities. But that is a fixable problem.
We have created a major problem by issuing 13,000 or more visas to potentially infected people. Those need to be retracted, then let people fly in provided they go to an Ellis Island type quarantine center for a few weeks. If they are healthy at that point they can travel within the US. But 150 a day potentially incubating with no symptoms is an unacceptable risk to Americans
