The case for voting Republicans, even those you think are Rinos
10/18/2014 | chrisnj

Posted on 10/18/2014 4:45:34 AM PDT by chrisnj

Many conservative voters are disillusioned at the Republicans for not standing up for their principles, for compromising with the Democrats, for having no spines etc. etc. They vow not to vote for the Republicans, or outright vote for the Democrats, to send them a message, to teach them a lesson. I think this kind of message/lesson serves no purpose but to cut off your own supply of oxygen.

Almost all the Republicans rejected obumbocrap (obamacare) but Harry Reid and his crooked Dems jammed it through deviously. The House Republicans have passed many legislations to repeal obumbocrap but Reid et al killed them all. The House Republicans have passed many good legislations but Reid and his crooks buried them all. The media blasted the Republicans on all their good constitutional/conservative acts, but remained silent on the Democrats' constant acts to destroy the constitution. This is a known fact and all of us always complain about it. Yet we are not showing any understanding of the difficult situations facing the House Republicans. While the Dem voters are behind their Dems 100%, we are demanding perfection while offering no help. We blame the Republicans for this and that but we are not working hard to create an opportunity or situation where they can stand on their principles and serve us faithfully. Why don't we vote them into majority in both House and Senate, so they have more control and feel less pressured to compromise, but more encouraged to listen to us to enact constitutional legislations for the good of the country. This is not excuses for the Republicans' non-performance. It is simply a fact that a good person can only do so much under difficult situations! We should understand that it is human nature to be rather weak, especially when under pressure. But given the favorable situations we are more likely to stand up taller for our principles. Remember when the Republicans were the majority in both Houses - even with a Democrat president Clinton, Congress was able to serve the people well! So if we are able to vote the Republicans into the majority, we just might be able to influence them into reversing the course to get our country back on the right track. Considering that many people have awaken and patriots are much more enthusiatically engaged in shaping government policies, we can realistically hope to get better leaders who will listen to the people again. All we need to do is unite and vote the crooks out but vote the acceptable albeit imperfect Republican candidates in, then work hard to influence them...

Certainly, with rampant voter fraud, ignorant and low-information voters, AND, the conservatives who vow to stay home or vote for the Dems, there is no hope that the Republicans will be in control of both Houses. It was said that those conservatives who wouldn't vote for the Republicans are part of the reasons why the Dems won the elections. So these conservatives are in effect cutting off the supply of oxygen to their own hopes (and our hopes)!

History suggests that the Republicans are more constitution-abiding leaders. We need to create the opportunities for them to abide to the constituion - by voting them into majority and then pressuring them into serving the people the way they should.

That mistake was thrust on him though. By none other than the GOP itself.

You haven’t nominated a Conservative. Of course they’ll never win in your straw man. Your little pea liberal brain ignores that fact. Nominate a Conservative and they will win ... but you are afraid they might win ... and there goes the neighborhood.

Reagan should have followed his own advice, "Just Say No."

You insist on electing GOP and they insist they will pass amnesty if given the majority. What is not to know? If you help, you share responsibility.

THAT, my FRiend, is quite possibly, well I can’t even think of a word, precise, concise, succinct, observation I have seen, on any conservative/Conservative forum, at any time. The so-called “purists” are the fellas sitting in the back of the bar, grumbling into their beers for any reason.

We need to chip away. Take what we can get now (e.g. vote for a candidate who is with us most of the time to remove a politican who is against us 100% of the time) and come back in two years for more.

That all makes sense, but even in cases where the Republican Party has control I don't see any "chipping away" going on.

The ObamaCare/budget debacle of late 2013 -- when Ted Cruz stood up with his infamous filibuster in the U.S. Senate, only to be roundly criticized by other Republicans -- spoke volumes about what we're up against in terms of dealing with traitors within the GOP.

RINO season ends on the day of the primary election. If you didn’t bag one you have to wait until next year.

-- Small yes I didn't say not large enough to sway an election, which is the point this entire thread has been making. --

You originally said "small" and "unmovable." It appears the "small" word turns out to be not so small as to be unimportant.

If you honestly believe this cohort is unmovable, then the rational reaction would be to abandon effort there, and look elsewhere for support.

IIRC, you are the one who said you consider this cohort of voters to be "enemy" or worse, so you don't want them in your camp anyway.

-- The GOPe has shown itself to be liberal. I don't think they have gone all the way to `progressive' yet, because I see `progressivism' to be a direct heir of Stalinism. --

One tactic the elite use to maintain control over populations is to have "the vote" and to give people superficially different choices. The elites who pull the levers of power and information will see to it that there is enough difference between the choices, so as to entertain the people, and to lull the people into a sense that their vote makes a difference.

Kudos for putting up with the FR brownshirts.

Some of them are likely democrat plants, some of them are simply used by the totalitarian left to sow discord under the guise of being principled. I never thought there could be people on FR that were as stupid as the GOPE, but I stand fully corrected.

These are the brilliant ones who lobbied for allowing a full blown Marxist, a full grown America hating, actively gay agenda promoting, actively and totally pro abortion administration who embodies the face of evil in our time, who genuinely wants to ruin America along with everything good in office. Yep, leave him alone and allow him to ruin all things.

Among their many debate tactics (along with ignoring actually debating substantively) they use the old "lesser of two evils" argument to shame you in to silence. I'm not a RINO lover in the slightest, but the idea that any RINO could actually compete with the new democrat party (the face of totalitarian evil in our time) is rich with irony.

It's never been about the lesser of two evils, it's flat out that we've never seen evil like this in our lifetime. Just try out a few things this administration has done lately: Let ebola into the US. They are actively bringing ebola patients to be treated here. They sent 3,000 troops to ebola countries. They are now calling up the guard to send to ebola countries. They refuse to block flights or even screen people from these countries. They ACTIVELY planned for the recent invasion of the southern border, they ACTIVELY IGNORED all lethal diseases and possible terrorist ties. They bussed them all over and we don't know where they are or who they are. They destroyed 70 years of our NATO alliance allowing Russia to take over in Eastern Europe. They allowed ISIS to flourish, killing multitudes of Christians and so many others. They destabilized the entire Mid East by supporting the Muslim brotherhood. Good grief I could go on all day about what they've mangled in the past few months, and yet......these brilliant "principled" people who left all this to happen, are saying it once again. The same people who have blood on their hands from sitting out the last time are here again saying the same leftist talking points.

I never thought we'd have such ignorant, virulent, and pathetic people gain such strength on the right (I know, some of them are plants, not from the right at all), but here we are. The country is circling the drain as these despicable totalitarian leftists are running amok, and all the idiots here say is let to them do it. What kind of principle is that? None, never was, never will be.
