Well, Freepers. We have the winners.
Should have said Wildcard. I know the Reds did in ‘76. [You do know that this was not the point of the post, right?]
What’s with all the beards on players these days?
Dodgers fan.
NOW its Royals vs Giants!
lol. That’s what I was going to say.
Ok, now it’s real, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still not a fan. :^)
The beards? The same with the tats, total immersion in the mentality of the herd.
Well, I’d say seeing the Giants in there AGAIN is a bit of a “yawn”, but the Royals?
I’ll go ahead and predict the Royals win, in 5 or 6, no sweep.
Yes - KC in 6.
As an Anaheim Angel fan I felt it my duty to remind him...
There’s a small Angel connection with the KC Royals- our 2002 broadcasters Steve Physioc and Rex Hudler are now with the Royals, and pitcher Jason Vargas was an Angel last year.
But more than that the way that the Royals are playing ball reminds me of that 2002 Angel team. There’s no big star, they just all play hard together as a team and there’s no quit in them. And that bullpen is a replay of what Scioscia had in 2002- if the Royals have a lead at the end of the sixth they’ll slam the door on you with a string of closers. It should be a good World Series.
Cardinals media is abuzz over the Wacha thing.
Neshek should have stayed for at least one more batter, Pence. And then you have 3 lefties batting.
glad I don’t hafta watch Matheny in the WS
more nitpicking:
In the 5 games of the series, Rosenthal made one appearance 0.2 inn 6 batters, the blown save.
The double switch that took Holliday out of the game ... both Neshak and Bourjos only stayed in the game for 1/2 inning.
Bourjos has .680 OPS vs. RHP and
Taveras has .551 OPS vs. LHP.
leaving Bourjos in to face a tired Casilla makes more sense than pinch-hitting with Taveras.
I’d like to replay the game with Bourjos batting and then Neshak for 2 batters in the 9th. Anyone got a computer game that does it?
Die-hard Giants fan here. You’ll be happy to know that the Giants has a strong Southern flavor... and the first thing Travis Ishikawa said when interviewed after the pennant-winning home run? “I want to thank my Lord Jesus Christ...” That team is filled with faith.
Exactly! PacBell Park ( :) ) is the only island of sanity in that forsaken city. It’s a waterside entity of its own. And the Giants LOVE our military. Good people.
Different manager. Bochy’s a whole different manager than Dusty Baker, who’s one of three former Giants that Bochy’s team has beaten:
Dusty Baker
Matt Williams
Mike Matheny
I have a huge amount of respect for Matheny. He was a good Giant. He also waited till Bochy was through celebrating last night, caught his eye, and tipped his cap. He’s tops in my book.
And Steve Physioc was a SF broadcaster and Giants color man in the 80s. :)
Mlb “the show” perhaps. I think it’s only for playstation.
Wacha Wacha!!!!
Tony LaRussa ain’t Wacha Wachking through that door!
“. He also waited till Bochy was through celebrating last night, caught his eye, and tipped his cap. Hes tops in my book.”
That was a class act.
Was he? I didn’t know where he had been before he joined the Angels broadcast team. I was sorry to see Phys and Hud leave. Hudler especially can be very entertaining.
