The Chiefs were named after Kansas City Mayor Harold Bartle who was known as “Chief”, the nickname that he received when he founded the Boy Scout honorary society, the tribe of Mic-O-Say. The colors red and white as well as the arrowhead logo are direct lifts from the regalia of the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow.
