The effects of climate change have been "consistently and widely exaggerated" in scientific forecasts, Owen Paterson, the sacked environment secretary, has claimed.
In a speech to climate sceptic think tank the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) on Wednesday, Mr Paterson will say that there is "considerable uncertainty" over the extent to which carbon dioxide emissions will cause global warming.
"Over the past 35 years, the earths atmosphere has warmed nothing like as fast as forecast and over the last 18 years it has not warmed at all, according to some sources," he will say, claiming "many policymakers have still to catch up with the facts".
Mr Paterson argues that the UK should scrap the Climate Change Act, which binds the UK to cutting its greenhouse gas emissions, and pursue an alternative energy strategy.

Now watch as he is smeared and ostracized, and maybe expelled from membership in professional societies for telling the truth.
But. But. But its finalized science and not debatable.
NO PELOSI, SHERLOCK!
It's not only exaggerated it's a pure scam.
The real Scientists were alerted to the falseness of it years ago when the Cheif Liar Algore claimed to have a “consensus”.
31,000 Scientists signed a petition stating that Al's 1200, or so, UN “scientists” were wrong.
When all crises have the same “solutions”,
you come to understand the “solutions” are the real goals,
and the “crises” are just excuses.
The theory that rising CO2 levels from human activity are increasing global temperatures is totally disproved. CO2 levels have risen, but there is NO global warming. It could be concluded that CO2 levels have little or no effect on climate.
Remember when the exit polls showed that Kerry was winning in ‘04?
The libs were flat out stating that the actual vote count was wrong because the “models” were saying Kerry was winning.
Same thing here - their models are not matching reality, so something must be wrong with reality.
But,but, but all the cool liberals like John Kerry voted on it... and the vote said the science is true. That is how science works, right? /s
