The city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, punished one of its own veteran police commanders for his refusal to attend a Muslim religious service being held at a mosque he said practiced radical Islamic dogma, according to court records. He also "dared" to refuse to order his officers to visit a mosque he alleges has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Naw, he should have just brought his Bible and shared the Good News!

Now that would have been even better ...
Share the Good News, pass out some tracts (leave a stack of the none too subtle Check Tracts: 'Allah had no son'; 'Twin Towers'; etc), and a good time would have been had by one and all. Good suggestion.

The Muslim event was characterized as the mosque’s Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, but it allegedly had nothing to do with appreciation of police officers. According to Fields’ attorneys, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day involved the captain and his officers taking a tour of the mosque, attending a meeting with the mosque’s leadership, attending the Muslim’s weekly prayer service, acquainting the police officers with Islamic religious reading material, and lectures on Islamic beliefs.

So if you were a HWC and was told to participate in abortions, you would do it?

Ones demanded obedience to Caesar by Caesar is not an allowed nor wise substitute for disobedience of ones conscience before GOD. Sad how many persons think quite the opposite.

Here’s the thing. If I’m getting paid by the Department, I go where they tell me to go.

Which is exactly what bothers so many of us about certain elements of modern policing.

Cops like the subject of this article have internal fortitude and solid moral grounding. Cops like you - not so much.

Here's from the federal government guideline:

"Coercion of Employees' Participation or Nonparticipation in Religious Activities. The ban on religious discrimination is broader than simply guaranteeing nondiscriminatory treatment in formal employment decisions such as hiring and promotion. It applies to all terms and conditions of employment. It follows that the Federal Government may not require or coerce its employees to engage in religious activities or to refrain from engaging in religious activity. For example, a supervisor may not demand attendance at (or a refusal to attend) religious services as a condition of continued employment or promotion, or as a criterion affecting assignment of job duties. Quid pro quo discrimination of this sort is illegal."

When an American is courageous for not going to a Mosque, we are in deep, deep trouble.

Very well said. And you're right, we are.

"He also kept the promise to wage a war on coal."

Ah yes, and raise the cost of energy. On rare occasions he's honest about how he plans to destroy America.

Nobody is stopping this guy from his freedom of speech! He’s free to say what he wants! If it involves disobeying an order or against a policy of his employment, then he will face consequences.

Oh pleae. You know nothing about me. I’m in the military too. And if I’m ordered to go talk to an Imam as part of a mission can I refuse that order as well? I’ll make sure to bring up your thoughts on my intestinal fortitude and moral grounding at my court martial.

If you are in the military as you claim, are you aware there is a world of difference between military law and civil law?

Try this for example: In the USA, under Civil Law:

“The act of requiring an employee to attend a religious service is in clear violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the “Accommodations” section of the EEOC guidelines.”

I’ve been a cop for over a decade. For two of those years I was in the Community Policing Unit. We had to go to all sorts of anti-cop BS events, meetings, whatever. Did we want to go, no. But we signed up for it and it was part of the job. The fact that this guy is a Captain and he was disciplined so severely makes me think there are other factors involved in this story.
