But "Giants Crush Redskins" can't become "New York Crushes Washington" because a reader wouldn't know if we're referring to the Giants or the Jets. ANYBODY who even tangentially knows football would know it sure as hell wouldn't be the Jets!.................

liberal idiots doing contortions to avoid using a word that 98% of the “redskins” in this country have no problem with.

I’d like to see the Redskins change their name to the New Mexico Redskins or Utah Redskins or Nevada Redskins. That would be pretty cool. I would probably even go watch a few of their games.

As a Cherokee Indian I find it offensive that NPR, ESPN, et al think that I and other Indians are shallow enough to be offended by the Redskin name. Who is sterotyping more; The Washington Redskins or NPR?
I don’t appreciate being herded into an always offended victim classification. The liberals can mind their own business.

From her on out if anyone uses the word redneck to describe a white person I’m going to act highly offended and demand an apology.

Every time liberal a$$holes try to be PC, they tie themselves in knots.
Instead of using terms "pro-life" and "pro-choice". Which are agreeable to both sides, they use: "people in favor of a woman's right to choose" vs. "people opposed to a woman's right to choose".
Nonsense.

If Washington is forced to drop the use of Redskins then I think they should refuse to use a team name completely. Just refer to themselves as ‘Washington’.

Can’t ya just picture these nimrods sitting around a table, debating this nonsense? I wish I had a job where this was the most important topic on the table - all courtesy of the US taxpayer or course....

Good for you. This politically correct nonsense is dangerous. I am glad you see it for what it is.
I realize the term could be taken as disrespectful, but I find it to be a name that calls forth noble character, strong will, bravery, and dignity.
I have never seen it as a term denigrating Native Americans. I never thought less of them for it’s use.
We live in a society that references Whites, Blacks, and yes Redskins. How is the term Redskins any more offensive than Whites or Blacks?
This is utter nonsense. I am very proud of the Washington Red Skins leadership, sticking to the name. I hope the name goes on for another century.
I also hope this backfires on the people complaining. They should be seen for who they are.

Switching sports for a moment...back in the days when the old Washington Senators were for decades the WORST team in baseball ( inspiring the book "The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant" which became the hit musical "Damn Yankees") one DC sportswriter coined this slogan about the Senators: Washington!
First in war!
First in peace! But LAST in the American League!

"Oklahoma Redskins" would be kinda funny, actually.
They should change their name to "Landover Redskins".
They don't play, practice, or do anything else in Washington.
More NFL teams play their home games in Maryland than in New York.
