Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “Iran is a natural ally” of the U.S.

“As long as Iran is ruled by the ayatollah and bases itself on its sectarian philosophy, we have to be careful. But basically, as a country, Iran is a natural ally of the United States. It’s the ideological, religious component that makes it an antagonist,” said Kissinger, who served as Secretary of State for the Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford administrations. …

Have you been to Iran ... I suspect that you have met Persians who have travelled to America. So one should translate “I have never met a Persian who didn’t like America” as “I have never met a Persian who relocated to America who didn’t like the America he/she relocated to.”

Then the Twelvers ought not be persecuting the Baha’is, right?

I’ve never heard of that faith expressing that sentiment about Twelver Shi’a Islam. They apparently do not accept that the Mahdi is at the bottom of the Jamkaran mosque’s well waiting to climb out and destroy all unbelievers, from what I read online.

The name “Iran” means “Aryan-land”.

Didn’t yet hear that Iran is led by Islamonazis? Please read this, then.

Please understand that I'm part Iranian (Persian) and I know a lot more about Iran personally, than you do or most probably will :). Thanks.

So are you confirming or denying it?

Would you prefer the land be called Iran, or Paras (which is what the Bible calls it)?

The land is called Iran. It is derivative of Aryan (ee-raan). It was called “ee-raan-shahr” during the Sassanid dynasty. It has to do with understanding old Avestan (Zoroastrianism), and middle-Persian languages. Do you have any Indo-European, Persian language skills?

I don’t see any evidence that the Parthians used that name. The name “Paras” did not come out of nowhere.

And, as for "Paras", I can only say that the Greeks called "Persia", "Persis", hence "Paras" referenced in the Bible.

Persia is based on one province of Iran used to be known, before Arab-muslim invasion of Iran, as "Pars" Or "Parsa". Now it's known as "Fars". Again, the entire land of is called Iran. That's the true and authentic name, and Iran has always been known as Iran to its inhabitants. I've explained this a few times on FR over the years.

Saudi Arabia has nukes. Just that it’s client state Pakistan stores it for them. If you had any idea how much of a slave Pakistan is to Saudi Arabia you wouldn’t even bring up the point. The odds of a Saudi militant getting hold of one of these is astronomically higher than a nuclear threat from Iran.

That’s absurd. If Saudi Arabia was more radical than Iran, they would have used Pakistan’s nukes already according to your logic and started World War III themselves. Assuming they really have control of Pakistan’s nukes. (Source?)

If anyone would be getting a hold of Pakistan’s nukes to use them anyhow, it would be the Iranians and their supported terror network—who Saudi militants are more cooperative with.

I rate Persians as being high IQ rational people.... Much more human potential in Iran than in Arab nations. Of course the only problem is getting rid of their Ayatollah oppressor regime. Huge problem but the underlying population is good. Arabs are much more brainwashed by Islam than the Iranians-Persians

IMO, all of this agitprop is a sign that Obama is going to bow to the mullahs to include them in an Axis with Gulf Arabs to sink Russian budget via oil market and it is how they are prepping a public opinion.

Could be. But, the thing is, we don't need Iran included to sink Russia. The present direction of the oil market, with Saudi Arabia apparently unwilling to cut output, can do that itself.

Lol. Iranians, on average, are more informed than Americans on average, politics & all, never mind Arab nations. I'm all in favor of getting rid of the Ayatollahs. The U.S. has been no help, only negotiating with them Ayatollahs for some 35 years. So, how about getting rid of the 'Oligarchs' in the U.S. ?! - just a thought...

Persians are generally more stable than Arabs IMHO

But Jimmy Carter hosed that up by not supporting the Shah

On the point "more human potential", you've no idea how offensive that is or can be, or maybe you do. And, then Americans wonder why Iranians are moving away from America...

Maybe the Iranians started to think the same about Americans and "more human potential", after what the American regime has been doing, in the last 3 or 4 years alone.

I personally really like the American people in general. But, as I said before in this thread, it's never a one way traffic.

I would agree with what he says, but the fact that the religious fanatics are still in charge, makes them our enemy. We had our chance to lend the revolutionists moral as well as material support in 2011 to overthrow the mullahs. Obama passed and we are still dealing with the religious fanatics. Ergo, they are our enemy.
