Over the past few years, General Mills has positioned itself as something like the anti-Chick-fil-A, celebrating LGBT pride and vehemently opposing Minnesotas proposed gay marriage ban. All of that is very nicebut come on, this is 2014. If youre a food company and you havent made an adorable ad featuring a gay couple with their children, youre just another face in the pro-gay corporate crowd.
Luckily, General Mills has now decided to get with the program, releasing a commercial with a gay couple, their adopted daughter, and a bowl of Cheerios. And the ad is just as impossibly cute as you might expect.

Gay couple, their adopted daughter, and a bowl of Cheerios.
Feeding the animals at the zoo ad.
What Slate is actually saying is the political correctness is adorable. BTW, two men or two women can’t be any more married than my two dogs can be married. Just because government says something doesn’t make it true.
General mills, the guys that donated heavily to block GMO labeling.
Put evil can be easily cast as an angel of light, but it’s fruit is still poisonous.
The connection you seek is the book of Jeremiah, it tells the story of Israel turning from God, and the last step before exile is famine, war and plague.
Hmmm, so theyre appealing to 5% of the market. I had no idea only homos ate Cheerios. Silly me.
More like 2% tops, but it still makes more sense than you think.
1) It's a "minority" with a significant upper class component (not just celebrities).
2) The target market is liberals in general, not just homosexuals.
the population of tolerant people is dwindling, and what replaces them wont look as kindly on freaks playing family and buying children.
...unless one is very young, most of this forum will not live to see that day...
...face it, secularism rules the roost, and will have an unabated run for at least two generations...the issues will change, but the overall message is clear...Christian principle outside some brick and mortar edifice designed specifically for that purpose is to be obliterated, and any social issue being contended by Christian ethcs will not be compromised by it...
...same reason Pilate agreed to crucify Christ..to abide by the state mandated social edict of keeping the peace...

*snicker*
General Mills just lost my business!
The problem for the deviants is that it is a “universal taboo”; people are repulsed by the behavior outside of religious belief systems. It is so obviously unnatural, and so outright disgusting and unhealthy, that it can’t stand up to any scrutiny at all. No mass media whitewash campaign can conceal the reality of what one gay man does to another, or where he does it.
Can you ever see a day where “mainstream” movies depict intimate scenes between two men? The theaters would be drenched in vomit...
The very best substitute I’ve found is HEB’s (a Texas Store) Toasted O’s. I think they are better than Cheerios. They also hold up better when you have milk with them.
people are repulsed by the behavior outside of religious belief systems.
It certainly wasn't a "religious" issue back when it was illegal.
It’s a Canadian commercial. It might be different there, but I have no idea.
so... don’t buy general mills products.
check
people should call them up and ask them to google the folsom street fair in google images, adult filter off.
if they won’t do that because they’re at work... then ask them why they insist on pushing it on our children
"Those poor people."
And that is how many of our imported newcomers will view it; it is a mental health/public safety issue.
Those poor people trapped in Hawaii for months and months, how sad
list of cereals to avoid?
"What is 'HUMANS', Alex?"
