An epidemiologist on another comment board, said that the masks that the CDC uses are inadequate to screen the a virus as small as the Ebola virus.
I used to be a dental hygienist and I had an epidemiologist for a patient back when AIDS was first being recognized, who told me the same thing about the latex gloves that we were wearing, the AIDs virus could pass right through them. He said it was unlikely, but possible, condoms, the same thing. It was about reducing the odds, not 100% prevention.
Healthcare workers deserve 100% prevention.
From what I’ve read about Ebola, it doesn’t care about no stinkin’ protocol.
CDC is saying there was a breach in protocol. But they aren't saying what that breach was.
Fortunately ebola is so hard to get that nobody has ever caught it. So don't worry. /s
New CDC Spokesman.
thought it was never coming in, then it was one incident, then protocol was broken when another gets it.
Close the damn borders and bring the troops home.
Last Friday, the last day for which a schedule was published, our always-busy pres__ent did this:
1:40 PM The President attends a DNC event (Fundraiser-Los Angeles)
3:40 PM The President delivers remarks at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park (”Official business”-San Dimas, CA)
10:05 PM The President delivers remarks at a DNC event (Fundraiser-San Francisco)
Direct result of this administrations letting infected people fly into US, refusing to stop air travel ..... Obola
I think Ronald Reagan said it best when he once said “The worst words you could ever hear are these..We are the Government and we are here to help” If the quote is not 100 percent accurate please fix it for me but its as close as I remember it to be..the CDC has already said they are expecting more cases in the coming days..we are SO screwed..meanwhile Obama is golfing today, he is enjoying every minute of this
How do you get out of a hazmat suit without being exposed to what is on the outside?
The empirical evidence says they didn’t. CDC procedure aren’t some fiction, they have people that work with ebola every single day and don’t get it, they know how to protect themselves from disease. But you have to follow procedures at a level beyond religious. There’s no confessing your sins on this one.
...CDC Director Frieden also revealed yesterday that in the month of September, screening at airports in African countries has turned away 77 people who had signs of possible Ebola infection, including 17 in the month of September.
Although Frieden used this example to illustrate the effectiveness of CDCs screening program, it also shows that sick people are trying to board planes to the U.S. As the outbreak grows, it will grow increasingly difficult to keep all Ebola-infected passengerswho dont show signs of infection for several daysoff those planes
I suspect that the worker got the virus on herself when taking her suit off.
She dresses up in the clean suit, goes in to tend to Duncan, gets virus on the suit, then gets it on/in herself somehow, while taking it off.
An alternative theory of mine is that the suit wasn’t fully decontaminated after the last use, and she got the virus on/in herself from the suit.
