Republican Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts said Friday that he thinks the IRS targeting scandal was driven by Valerie Jarrett’s office in the White House, according to information that he saw that Democrats tried to “whitewash.”
Roberts told talk radio host Hugh Hewitt that he participated in a Senate Finance Committee investigation into the IRS scandal but “the effort was made by the majority, by the Democrats in the Congress, to simply end that investigation,” which he called a “whitewash.”
“I’m convinced that even Valerie Jarrett was involved,” Roberts said.
“I think this was White House-driven. I think all of the information at least that I saw leads to that, so we really have to finish this investigation,” Roberts said.
Oh come on. Does anyone really believe that anyone will be held accountable?

A ‘Senior’ adviser - publicly plotting ‘payback’ for ‘everyone’ deemed their political opposition. Now I wonder which of the scores of federal agencies were tasked with figuring out who’s to be getting and what it is they deserve.

Government is a blunt instrument and should be handled with much greater care. Those who voted for this .... got the government they deserve, that’s for sure.

Senator Roberts is so desperate to win his reelection he will even pretend to care about the country for a whole month.
I read it a little differently. He's getting beaten by a fake independent because people in soundly conservative Kansas don't really trust him anymore and would rather back an unknown. I think Roberts is throwing red meat out there to try to get the base excited about him. Probably none of this will ever be said again after the election, win or lose.
The difference is whether he believes it or not. Your theory presumes he's telling the truth in a sort of frustrated outburst, mine is that he's saying what he think the base wants to hear, and he may or may not believe it but will certainly never do anything about it.

Neither base has any freaking idea who Valerie Jarrett is. Half our FReepers don’t, and we’re roughly 10X more politically plugged in than the LIVers.
That’s why he said it on a radio interview, more people would understand the situation.
I guess I’m a cynic. I beleive when career politicians speak in public three weeks prior to an election they are never winging it. They have a purposeful message meant to win votes. So in this case when I say the base, I mean conservatives, not GOP snobs. Conservatives who may not show up because they perceive Roberts as a multiterm DC insider GOPe apparatchik. They may not vote for the fake independant but he needs them to show up to vote for him. So he’s talking about the IRS scandal, which nobody seems to care about except conservatives, and saying that high level people in the White House were driving it (i.e Obama knew, without saying “Obama knew”). Doesn’t matter if they know who Valerie Jarrett is or the theory that she supposedly is Obama’s puppet master. Red meat.
I’m a cynic, too, but we just have to hope that this clash of total Leftist takeover (nearly complete) vs. down-to-the-wire conservative fight to stop them will work.
Ted and Sarah think we can pull this off, and I’m with them. It’s always darkest before the dawn, and it’s pretty MF dark right now, all over our Nation, and the world.
