ISIS commander Tarkhan Batirashvili--aka, "Omar the Chechen"--warns that Russia will soon be targeted by the Islamist group.
According to The Moscow Times, "Batirashvili has gained a fearsome reputation throughout the conflict in Syria." Bloomberg News reports that he now seeks "revenge" on Russia over Moscow's support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
He gave voice to plans for this revenge while talking on the phone with his father, who lives in Georgia's Pankisi Gorge. He told his father: "Don't worry dad, I'll come home soon and show the Russians... I have many thousands following me and I'll get more. We'll have our revenge on the Russians."
The Independent reports that estimates on the number of Chechen fighters in Syria "range between 200 and 1,000." The "concern" is that these fighters are receiving training "to commit terrorist attacks on their return."

Do not support those who want to exterminate Israel, like Assad who is controlled by Assad’s paymaster, Iran.
Assad has trans-shipped 40,000 missiles to Hezbollah in South LEBANON!
Let me sum your emotional statement up...... You got no viable plan for Middle East Christians to survive.
And as far as you are not going to help and unable even to come with a worthy advice why won’t you just shut up and let them pick their allies based on operational environment.
These people aren’t that much interested in your understanding of their values, the very survival is at stakes for them!
And we are talking about a really tough group of the very first Christians around, who managed to cope with Romans on the eve of Christianito and millenias of Mohammedan domination.
I hope they would find their ways to survive Obama’s foreign policy as well, though it is really a challenge.
Exactly. They see Obama as less than a man.
Russians will sacrifice their own people, if it takes down the enemy as well. America isn’t willing to put its own soldiers deep enough into combat to actually occupy and make advances on the enemy. That is the biggest problem with America, unwilling to lose our own people in a fight when they will die anyways if the enemy makes it in far enough.
I think it’s quite possible that the British ,Chinese , Russians and US may some day have to get together to defeat these degenerates. As usual it will be at the last moment when our lives are unquestionably at risk.
Interesting perception regarding Christians and the money handling. Hadn’t heard it before. Thanks. I’ll keep it in mind. You may be on to something there.
I’m not convinced the Russians are still buying Poopin’s play here.
When families started losing family members, I think the shine came off the road apple.
He hasn’t made much headway in the mainland Ukraine. All this for what, a trashed ruble, sagging economic activity, and becoming a world pariah state again.
This guy hasn’t gained much, and is now acting the part of a maniacal land grabber.
Maybe some of the moderates were part of Assad’s regime and stole them? Maybe our bombing of Assad’s facilities opened them up? I don’t know. But I DID read that the kids pictured for propaganda articles were identified as captured kids from some of the towns attacked by the “moderates”. They are on this website.
And don’t forget, Obama armed the “Moderates” who are now ISIS, largely.
At what point, how many times has he been re-elected. After the theater massacre with gas, Putin got re-elected. The Russian voters are as bad, if not worse, than Obama voters.
I agree. The population had a high opinion of him, no doubt about it.
Now there are protests on the streets of Moscow.
I realize that may not seem significant, but it’s a bell-weather change from before.
I don’t know how much of a hit he has actually taken, but as the populace feels the pinch, he’s not going to be viewed as Mr. Brilliant much longer.
I hope they are the end of him, but he has had all sorts of protests and still been re-elected. I wish I knew for sure, and I hope a more moderate president is soon to take over, I just don’t know.
I agree with that. My thought has been that at some point this guy’s luck has going to run out. Sixteen years is a long time to remain in power. He’s pulled just about every string to accomplish it.
At this point, it would seem a war would be his last best bet.
Lets hope that isn’t the case.
That’s a good point, I based my information of his father being a Christian off of this interview.
He played the system, he wasn’t president for all consecutive years, he was out for two years as the Prime Minister. Being a parliamentary position, he went up for election when they were recalling the sitting President. So he has had two consecutive terms twice. He also is someone who laughs and mocks the protesters. Russian voters seem to be just as bad, if not worse than Obama voters in somehow re-electing him in spite of a lot of what either he or his fan base has done.
He’s still there, so there is obviously a problem.
I am reminded what takes place in the U. S. though. We get the likes of Obama and should have the biggest landslide in our nation’s history. Instead we get:
Consummate Leftists
Terrible Campaigners
Century level bonehead comments
Actually endorsement of the opposition
Support for the same exact agenda
Trashing of Conservative groups you need to get elected
Some of these dynamics probably play in to help Putin too.
Simple. He lied. Ever hear of “Hope and Change”?
Hitler never got a majority of the vote in anything like a fair election.
Once he took power, he kept consolidating it. Sound familiar?
Think of Hugo Chavez and what happened to Venezuela.
You do not need a majority of you control the media.
