Latina Judge Strikes Down TX Voter ID, Blasts History of 'Discrimination'

BY SANDRA LILLEY

A Texas-born and raised Latina federal judge, Nelva Gonzalez Ramos, did not just block a Republican-sponsored state voter ID law, she equated it to laws enacted by states after slavery was abolished to ensure blacks could not vote.

"The Court holds that SB 14 creates an unconstitutional burden on the right to vote, has an impermissible discriminatory effect against Hispanics and African-Americans, and was imposed with an unconstitutional discriminatory purpose," Gonzalez Ramos stated in her lengthy ruling issued Thursday. "The Court further holds that SB 14 constitutes an unconstitutional poll tax."

After slaves were freed and black Americans began to win elected office, laws requiring black Americans to pay a fee to vote or to pass literacy tests began to be enacted. Similar tactics were used in the Southwest against Mexican Americans.

Texas' strict voter ID law, passed by the Republican-led Legislature in 2011, only accepts certain forms of photo ID and does not allow other commonly used ones. It does not allow college student photo IDs, for example, but allows gun permits as identification.

The law would have made it extremely difficult for Texas Latinos such as 18-year-old twins Nicole and Victoria Rodriguez to vote, as groups argued in 2013. The young women at the time did not have driver's licenses since their parents could not afford car insurance, yet they had valid Texas birth certificates, high school IDs and Social Security identification.

Still, they would not have been allowed to vote unless they traveled to a state office to get a special photo ID issued by the Department of Public Safety. Voting experts have pointed out the long distances and restricted hours of these state offices,..

Will never happen. She’ll be a judge for the rest of her life. The only way she won’t be is when every American citizen wises up, rise up, and throw the corrupt out of power. Until then, the lawlessness, evil, and immorality will continue unabated. That’s why they want us divided. The communists realized a long time ago that a UNITED AMERICAN PUBLIC is the strongest force on Earth. Sometime after WWII they realized to bring America down they had to divide us, and they have. Nothing will happen until we are all on the same page.

Also how is it discrimination? Latino and Black CITIZENS can get ID’s. It’s only discriminatory to those who are illegally here, and no one should have a problem with that. The democrats have become champions of the victim, the WRONG criminal victims. I would hate liberals and democrats a LOT less if they had Americans best interests at heart. But they are ALWAYS on the wrong side of patriotic and moral issues. ALWAYS.

I think everyone should be able to vote....IF THEY CAN PASS A TEST BASED ON US HISTORY, GOVERNMENT, AND BASIC FINANCIAL QUESTIONS AND THEY ARE A LEGAL CITIZEN. 90% of Black and Latino communities live in ghettos and slums, but they vote democrat and are none the wiser. Whites live in affluent nice communities but still vote Dem because of the media lying to them every single damn day. The commies took the entertainment and news industries from within, and conservatives didn’t. That’s one of the biggest problems we have. 95% of information venues BASH traditional American values, and support treasonous agendas. I can’t blame my neighbors, but I can blame the enemy. Communism, it’s ALWAYS BEEN COMMUNISM. The cold war never ended, it went silent. It’s more of an informational cold war of propaganda, and we’ve been losing it for 50 years.

Can she be sued for disenfranchising voters?

Does she really think that claiming that minorities don’t have ID is believable? That her excuse to enable massive vote fraud really fools anyone?

The ruling should be ignored. If it is constitutional to require ID for just about everything else, then it is constitutional to require it for voting.

I don’t understand what you are referring to. Could you be a bit more clear?

Irony is dead. There, I said it. This ‘’Latina’’ judge hurls around charges of racism as a headline blares her ethnicity. The very laws she’s talking about were designed and put in place by Democrats.

From wiki

During the 111th Congress, Ramos was one of three candidates recommended by Democrats from the Texas House delegation for a Corpus Christi vacancy on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.[4] Ramos was the only candidate also supported by Republican Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn.[3] On January 26, 2011, President Barack Obama nominated Ramos to replace Judge Hayden Head.[3]

The United States Senate confirmed Ramos by unanimous consent on August 2, 2011.[5]She received her commission on August 4, 2011.

Does the law say only Blacks and Latinos have to provide ID? If not, then this judge is simply making sure the voter fraud machine in TX is ready to go.

Just because she is a Latina and a judge doesn’t mean she is smart, knows the law, or isn’t prejudiced against white people.

Maybe that is why she got the job in the first place.

We’ve spent billions on the war on poverty, but we somehow can’t seem to get the poor souls, who are already on the government dole and want nothing more than to participate in the democratic process some form of acceptable ID?

What kind of animals have we become?

It would not matter what the law said. It was the same with gay marriage. Get the right judge, get the right outcome. (And there are now loads of “diverse” judges of all kinds from whom to choose.) The left has it all figured out: in this “rule of law,” laws no longer matter.
