A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault last week of a 100-year-old woman, Wichita police said Friday.
The man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of rape and aggravated burglary, Wichita police Capt. Troy Livingston said. Police would not name the man, but jail and police records identified him as Kasey L. Nesbitt of Wichita. The man was arrested Monday in connection with a separate burglary case, jail records show. He was rebooked into the jail Thursday.
Kansas Department of Corrections records show Nesbitt has been in and out of prison since 1999, mostly on burglary and theft convictions. He was released in January 2013. The assault occurred overnight on Monday and Tuesday of last week, Livingston said. The woman walked to a neighbors house at about 7:15 a.m. Sept. 30 and told the neighbor there were people inside her house in the 800 block of South Crestway.
Shes a strong and brave woman who was able to give us information, Livingston said of the victim. She seems to be doing fine, and her family is taking care of her.
Police soon had a suspect, but waited to make an arrest while they collected more evidence, police said. The woman, who lives alone, said she was awakened about 9 p.m. by the intruders inside her house, police said. One or more burglars forced their way inside through a back door. They remained in the house for several hours.Investigators are still trying to determine whether any property was taken.
This case was harder for our detectives to even grasp, not just the detectives on the case but all the detectives, Livingston said. They were all pretty shocked by this.
I believe racism is a sin. However there are serious problems in our country and ignoring those problems isn’t going to help.
Black on white - White on black - Black on black - White on white - Mulatto on albino? It don’t matter. Rape is rape. String his a$$ up to a tall tree and let the vultures have lunch.
Thanks for your comments. I tend to think that it is more about sex than some folks want to think. I will accept that there are cases where foreign objects are used, and that tends to skew the issue. It’s a form of perversion at that point, absent consent.
There are so many willing playmates out there these days. Young men should be scoring just about any time they like. This just seems so unnecessary.
I do understand the war/conquer quotient in this too.
I’m not going to deny anyone their day in court, but race baiting is a far bigger issue today than racism, IMO.
Look at the Ferguson dynamic. This was completely unjustified race baiting.
It caused people across the nation to form opinions, and justify criminal actions “to get even”. The Knock-Out Game is justified on situations like this.
That idiot kid in Florida that wound up getting shot, is another example. It was the key even in the Knock-Out Game flashing across the nation.
What effort against Blacks is that widespread and anti-black?
Are white running around in packs attacking any blacks?
White on black rape is practically non-existent. The reverse is not true. Violent crime, including rape, is overwhelmingly a black phenomenon.
Rapists are racists.
Well, if it turns out to be black on black, then it’s an issue related to rape and dominance. If it’s black on white, it would also be rape and dominance, but it would also be an intended signal to whites in the area they were on notice.
I agree that the rape is a rape. There can be additional goals. That doesn’t diminish the rape part of it.
I agree. Let the buzzards feast...
“This is not a rhetorical question, but did black men become much more violent compared to other races after Great Society and race baiting, or has it always been like this?”
Don’t know that answer. But I do know it has been this way for quite awhile—predates Obama/Holder. They are statistically more violent in the UK, also.
Many studies have found American blacks to have an average IQ of (just) 85, so life may be pretty frustrating. Violence is an outlet for frustration, resentment, fear, etc.
This reminds me of about twenty years ago, when crack cocaine was just made available to anybody for a dollar or two. You had thousands of ‘crack babies’ being born who were always angry, always unhappy and later prone to acting out violently. The ‘man’ here may be such a creature; born rotten, diseased and a danger to the public. Maybe the prisoners themselves will exact the punishment which fits the crime.
Flog this guy to death in the public square.
How many sons does obola have?
Feed him into a wood chipper

Might depend on the proportion of assailants that are sociopaths. According to sociopaths, they will have sex or rape but are not interested in sex in and of itself. I was surprised when a number of sociopaths described themselves as asexual. But we know sociopaths can be serial rapists or simply constantly promiscuous men. But when asked, the sociopaths report that sex or rape is just an unimportant tool used to get what they want (control of someone else) and that its the violation and control of another human that generates the closest thing to pleasure for them. It’s not realistic to try to “profile” how they think - it’s too twisted for a normal person to grasp and some people have reported that doing so seems to be damaging (traumatizing) to normals. For example, trying to really “understand” a perp who could rape a 100 year old woman is not healthy, your mind would have to momentarily embrace unthinkable, warped thoughts. Not that a person would then be tempted, but that humans were never meant to bend/break their minds like that. This comes to mind when we are asked to “understand” terrorists who kill gleefully - actually getting inside their minds an trying to embrace their world view just long enough to “understand” would not be psychological healthy for any normal person.
Same here.
Rape has nothing to do with sexual attraction. It is all about violence.
One of my students contacted me that morning and said she wouldn’t be in class that am. Told me she was a part of an investigation involving this incident.

I don’t have a particular beef with your comments. I think they are one person’s attempt to address this rationally. Your attempt may be a lot better than mine.
The one possible problem I see here is the idea an interview with these incredibly flawed people, would see them providing an unbiased accurate explanation that wasn’t focused on gaming perceptions to the extent that anything meaningful couldn’t be gleaned from it.
Deviated personalities, seem to see themselves as the normal people, and others to be operating in a fantasy world.
Aren’t these the ultimate “if it feels good do it folks”? Do they experience true guilt? Wouldn’t they be happy if not caught and allowed to do whatever they want? I realize nothing may bring them true happiness, but relatively isn’t this what gets them as close to happiness as they get.
That being the case, how can they self-analyze?
Good points.
I read their comments on a blog for sociopaths, where they compare notes with each other. I think it’s a better quality of info than an interview but I think there’s still self reporting distortion (e.g., it’s not unusual for a poster to be derided by self-described or acknowledged “real” sociopaths as a mere “wanna-be” sociopath. Yeah I guess we all have aspirations!?) A real place this shows up is that they usually decry negative public opinion because they “have never committed a crime!” blah blah blah. But I don’t see much cache in statments like “I consider myself asexual or non-sexual” or admitting that the rush they get from sex is having control, any control at all (positive or negative) over another human. So yes, I agree the source of info is iffy but I do think there’s something there. Particularly when the socios dance around the subject of destorying peoples lives, the way they describe it often sounds like the way that people describe the influence of libido on their lives.
