The family of Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan are venting their outrage that the late Liberian may not have received the same quality of care leading up to his death Wednesday morning as the other patients treated in the U.S. for the dreaded virus.
'No one has died of Ebola in the U.S. before. This is the first time,' Duncan's furious nephew Joe Weeks told ABC.
Weeks and others in Duncan's family are calling his treatment 'unfair,' after seeing other patients pulled from the brink of death in government-funded evacuation planes and using life-saving blood transfusions and cutting edge drugs.
Five US citizens have been diagnosed with Ebola and three of them have beaten it. NBC News cameraman Ashoka Mukpo, the latest American victim, arrived at the infectious disease ward at the University of Nebraska Medical Center this week for treatment. A fourth victim, a World Health Organization doctor, is being treated in Atlanta.
All five have been flown to specially designed infectious disease wards in Nebraska or Atlanta for treatment by some of the world's top doctors.
The anger from Duncan's family also stems from what happened before Duncan was seen by doctors but after he fell ill - when the Liberian was initially turned sent home by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital - the same hospital that later admitted him.
'What if they had taken him right away? And what if they had been able to get treatment to him earlier,' said Dallas pastor George Mason, a confidante of the family's, according to a CNN report.
While Mason told reporters that Duncan's fiance Louise Troh 'is not seeking to create any kinds of divisions in our community,' she has called for a full review of his medical care.

Jesse Jackson’s pre-election coaching.
He likely told them that they can get a HUGE payday from this, and it plays into the Ferguson memes the Black Radicals are pushing, trying to get AA’s to vote in November.
On his first trip to the hospital, Obolacare rules were followed. Since he had no Obolacare or other insurance he was given antibiotics and sent home.
I would guess that there were co morbidities such as hep c, or even hiv, or diabetes, etc....
I got a question..why do 70 percent of those who get the disease in Liberia die..because its EBOLA, people DIE FROM IT..DUH!!! Always the damn race card, it never gets old does it..this family needs to get something straight, if Duncan had stayed in Liberia he would have been dead in a day or two tops so enough of this nonsense about his medical care..he should NEVER have been allowed in this country to begin with
Clue....Obama wants Zmapp to get the bucks.
You need a vaccine...a prevention device not a "possible cure" after spreading the damn thing all over the place.
If the family really thinks he got second-class treatment then stick them with the bill and let them wonder what ‘first class treatment’ would have cost.
The main reason the “Patient Zero” died, was because he lied to authorities about both his origin, and contacts he had prior to his departure from Liberia. He WAS treated, twice. The first time, the medical staff was not apprised of his true origins, and the second time, the disease had progressed too far for any attempt to be successful.
Chances are, he would have died anyway had he remained in Liberia. (With mortality rates ranging from 50% to 90%, he had between a one in two and one in ten chance of surviving the ravages of the disease.)
Question: Are there any survivors of the Ebola virus out there walking around, and what kind of antibodies now circulates in their blood?
I know, just say ok we are racist now go away.
Calling co moon knee tea actuviss
Peas come....¿
Why?
Because no one loves you Joe Weeks.
That can’t happen under EMTALA.
Turning a patient away like that guarantees a visit from CMS, loss of ability to bill Medicare or Medicaid, a large fine and the physcian would also face a 50k fine he has to pay.
Whenever there is a case of a serious but rare disease, the CDC goes all out to support the care of the patient.
There are all kinds of CDC expert big shots flying out on government private jets and bogging down your unit and generally making life difficult for the docs on the ground.
Any new or experimental drugs or treatments are considered and medicine is flown in via private jet.
At least this has been the case in my experience. If not then Obama has totally mis managed the CDC and his response to Ebola
Huge law suits in 3....2....1....
where is it expressed that treatment never results in death? for any life-threatening medical issue?
if anything, this response is strong evidence to close off borders to those in infected countries. if he had died in africa would they be considering suing the hospitals there? they’dhave made a lot more mistakes over there in hospital and given him far less care.
sheesh. ungrateful bastards.
How much would Liberia have spent on him? His moldering corpse would’ve been food for feral dogs roaming the streets of Monrovia ten days ago had he not come to America.
CC
Maybe if he hadn’t lied on his departure screening questionnaire before leaving Liberia, he’d have gotten treatment sooner, and survived.
LOL that photo never gets old!
