On his blog on the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), director Dr. Tom Frieden wrote that sealing borders, restricting travel to and from countries with widespread cases of Ebola, and otherwise isolating communities infected with the deadly disease increases peoples distrust of government, making them less likely to co-operate to help stop the spread of Ebola.
Frieden added:
I have been asked whether we should stop travel to Liberia. The answer is no: to keep Americans and people in non-affected countries safe, we must continue to work to support efforts to stop the spread of Ebola in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. One strategy that wont stop this epidemic is isolating affecting countries or sealing borders. When countries are isolated, it is harder to get medical supplies and personnel deployed to stop the spread of Ebola. And even when governments restrict travel and trade, people in affected countries still find a way to move and it is even harder to track them systematically.
Frieden continued that restricting travel to and from a community with widespread Ebola would make it more difficult to control the isolated area and would place that country at even greater risk.
At the United Nations last week, delegates wore buttons that said: Isolate patients, not countries, Frieden wrote. The only way to stop the epidemic is to isolate and care for patients, not to quarantine entire communities, areas, or countries. Patients, communities, and countries that are fighting Ebola need our support.
A guest on NBCs Meet the Press on Sunday, Frieden also said that experimental drugs may help with the spread of Ebola, but added, The drug pipeline is going to be slow, Im afraid.

Open borders, planes from everywhere, free trade uber alles.
PING!
Ping.
Even the CDC under Obama has become thoroughly politicized.
The CDC no longer exists to protect public health, but to advance the progressive agenda.
Aw, don’t worry about that, go ahead and seal the borders; it’s simply not possible for my distrust of the government to increase. Distrust-o-meter is wrapped around the high peg already.
He’s got it bass ackwards.
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
The CDC is the epitome of incompetence.
Having a gov’t that DOES the right thing INCREASES trust that they’re actually going to PROTECT us!
THESE FREAKING IDIOTS!!
A link to this thread has been posted on the Ebola Surveillance Thread
Fixed it.
That’s EXACTLY right!!
The CDC can’t be trusted anymore than the DNC, or Eric Holder’s JustUS Department.....
Frieden is obviously a political hack who cares more about his petty career than the health of the American people.
THIS MOTHER ******’ DUMB ASS LUNATIC JERK NEEDS TO BE FIRED RIGHT NOW!
Pretty clear he’s an ideologue and isn’t dealing with reality.
Certainly not the people government is supposed to be protecting.
Shutting borders may increase distrust of African gov’ts but Friedan is not a representative of African gov’ts.
nope half assing it does. sending over troops with hand gel does. blatantly lying about it does. not sealing the borders does. not banning flights in does.
this clown. they want this country to go down the tubes. ohole most desperately.
