Just wanted to pass this along--maybe it'll temper the enthusiasm some of us have for dangerous habits.
I am certain that as time goes on, it will become clear the path laid bare by the Supreme Court today regarding marriage will be mourned by society. The evidence will show that redefining marriage as "whatever we want to call it" hurts, deeply, the human condition.
Exhibit A: Look whose in the White House.
Kinda sounds like beer....
I never heard a peep about scientific studies before pot was legalized.
Pot smokes your Brain.
I’m still on the fence. My dad has horrible back pain and nerve damage. His first back surgery was in 1981. That is many, many years of constant pain. Because of this, he is on strong pain relievers and will be for life. I’ve learned that some of them, like oxycodone, contain artificial heroin. I’ve seen what decades of prescription painkillers does to a person. Could medical marijuana really be that much worse?
I recently had a minor surgery and Vicodin was prescribed. I chose to suffer for a few days rather than take that drug. I’m grateful that, for me, the pain was temporary. If I was looking at years of debilitating pain I would be looking for relief.
There are two types of brain damaged addicts wandering outside my office building right now.
The first are the methheads. They generally are twitching, swearing, acting psychotically.
The second are the dopers. They no longer can put together a coherent sentence and their brains are running at 15 rpm. You can tell them by their slurred speech and difficulty understanding and responding to another person. They sit around all day doing nothing.
The methhead tweakers are probably more dangerous, but the dopers are just as screwed up.
I think anyone with common sense knows it is harmful to your body and your brain. At a minimum that stuff must really tar up a person’s lungs and cause cancer.
But this part caught my eye
“If cannabis is not addictive then neither is heroin or alcohol, he said. It is often harder to get people who are dependent on cannabis through withdrawal than for heroin we just dont know how to do it.
It is known to be physiologically addictive but NOT physically addictive. Comparing it to heroin is silly. Based on such ignorant statements I discount the entire article. I wouldn’t believe anything those idiots said. But again one doesn’t need idiots like these people to tell you that smoking a substance deep into your lungs is not a good idea
It should be considered within the context that Alcohol does more damage. Period.
And neither should be illegal.
Any chronic pot smoker that doesn’t admit to all of these facts is in total denial. Pot also doesn’t really have any medicinal value compared with the damage it does.
Now I’m gonna get slammed by all the pot lovers here. Truth is, I’ve smoked more than my share of pot and I know the truth of it.
All That I personally know about the stuff was that we has a very nasty neighbor who grew and used heavily (for pain of course) and was dead of lung cancer before he was 40.
Now that the stuff is legit for “personal use” you see those “marijuana mansions” in a surprising lot of backyards.
Most of them are the kind of folks you won’t miss anyway.
I’m not concerned about the physical health, it is what it does to the masses who use it, it is like Cannabis puts a worm into people’s heads that make them alike.
There is a reason why Western man has always looked down on it and never accepted it as an intoxicant for thousands of years.
Ditto.
What causes my dislike of the pro-legal marijuana types is their lack of willingness to admit the downsides of smoking weed. Instead they want to distract from that by mentioning alcohol which is irrelevent because the issue is marijuana.
Just admit pot can harm and be addictive. Having all the info is better than being sucker punched by reality when encountering pot users.
i am listening for first candidate for president to promise to execute the laws we have against dope and illegal immigration!!. These laws are passed and signed. Obola has broken them . This madness in Colorado would end with search warrants.
The people I knew in high school who used cannabis went from being capable articulate people to generally unmotivated sponges. (Honor roll to dropouts.) I know at least one who went on to heroin and died before her 18th birthday.

Perception of marijuana as a safe drug is scientifically inaccurate (University of Montreal)
Cannabis more damaging to health than previously thought claim doctors (Imperial College London)

I think we still stop people from committing suicide. Prohibitions against marijuana are intended to prevent intellectual suicide and damage to society. I do not, however, support civil seizure without trial, or excessive sentences for minor possession.
The cure has become worse than the disease. Support an end to the WOD now.
“Cannabis is highly addictive, causes mental health problems and opens the door to hard drugs, the study found.”
Too funny. When I was a kid in the fifties, and sixties (more than twenty years ago) we were told to “never smoke dope”, “mary jane”, “weed”, because it’s “addictive, makes ya nuts, and starts ya on the road to hard stuff”.
I guess those unenlightened folks back then weren’t to be believed.
Now that marijuana is legal (with a few conditions) in WA state, some of us are NOT looking forward to stoned drivers, teachers, doctors, husbands, wives, etc because we KNOW the stuff is dangerous.
