The Texas Ebola victim’s family is quarantined under armed guard tonight.
This was after family members would not comply with a request to not leave their apartment.

ABC reported:

Four members of a family the U.S. Ebola patient was staying with were confined to their Texas home under armed guard Thursday as the circle of people possibly exposed to the virus widened, while Liberian authorities said they would prosecute the man for allegedly lying on an airport questionnaire.

The unusual confinement order was imposed after the family failed to comply with a request not to leave their apartment, according to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.

Texas State Health Commissioner David Lakey said the order would help ensure the four can be closely watched, including checking them for fevers over the next three weeks.

“We didn’t have the confidence we would have been able to monitor them the way that we needed to,” he said.

The family will not be allowed to receive visitors, officials said.

Authorities were also concerned about the cleanliness of the home and hired a cleaning service, Lakey said.

You wanna take that chance and let them roam all over Dallas?

What a weird reply.

We’ll know pretty soon. If the CDC is right about it only being transmitted when symptoms appear, and if the truth is that his symptoms only began on the 24th, then tomorrow is the 9th day, so the first symptoms will likely appear on one or more of the individuals within a few days, based on when it generally hits.

In the book The Hot Zone, after the monkey house had been cleaned with disinfectant, they set off a formaldehyde bomb and sealed all the windows and doors for several days.

Stuff like this is why in can get out of hand here just as it did in Africa. If things don’t improve, and get treated in a more professional manner, it’s not going to end well.

Apparently Duncan’s ‘nephew’ personally called CDC to get them ... a “mistake that was made.”....“I feared other people might also get infected if he wasn’t taken care of,” Josephus Weeks told NBC News..... “So I called them to ask them why is it a patient that might be suspected of this disease was not getting appropriate care.”

Well that is an interesting bit of news. A family member had to call the CDC to get this sick man back to the hospital for the 2nd time and put into isolation for testing???

Well, ask the CDC. Where exactly is a safe place to quarantine?

Apparently, the CDC didn’t think it was necessary to figure that out ahead of time, because after all, such a scenario just couldn’t happen here.

So now they have no where to put these people, unless they get symptoms and go to the hospital.

...”she (Duncan’s girlfriend)works as a home healthcare aide.”

Oh brother, and she went to work during that time he was in her apartment I understand....I would suppose they know exactly who she saw and those people are being watched s well.

I can’t get over “Louise” saying ...”Who wants to be locked up”....when she was caught not being co-operative with the quaranteen. Unfortunatley like many from Africa etc. they just don’t get it.

What a mess this one man, I now believe knowingly brought this disease here.....and his family for not being compliant with the restrictions.

....” there is no place to quarantine these people”....

Yes there is ... they wrote of these a few days ago, in case there was something like this in our country. Where these are no-one said, and rightfully so....we don’t want these third world people going there to help their families “escape” as they did over in Africa. This family has not comprehended how bad the situation is....third world mentality is not going to be helpful fighting this here.

Yet they’ve spent money on stupid things like climate change. We are screwed in this country. Literally doomed if this kind of ineptitude and greed keeps up!

I miss Bush! There were things I didn’t agree with him on, and was by no means the best president ever but I know he would be handling this like it needs to be handled right now! When all is said and done the Obama voters might just be responsible for a whole lot of deaths.

Blacks, Latinos, and stupid female liberals OWN the destruction of this once great country:(

Just wondering: What is the immigration status of the woman and other family members in quarantine?

The more I read about this tragic story about these people from Liberia, the more I wonder if this is a classic example of chain immigration: One person gets a green card, and that person starts getting visas and green cards for a long line of family members.

Just wondering.

NOTE: If they can find spacious and comfortable places for illegal immigrants who crossed the Mexican border recently, surely the federal government can find temporary comfortable housing---21 days--- for one family who may or may not have the Ebola virus.

Somebody do something.

Marie, you’re right. I’d be livid if I was forced to stay at ground zero. That’s almost guaranteeing that I and my fellow detainees would catch the disease.

What is important to note is that no one seems to be using the CDC / FEMA playbook on how to handle something that was entirely predictable. If they can’t do it right for one family, what happens if there is a serious outbreak and the responders are overwhelmed?

There should be ZERO confidence that ZERO has a plan and is ready to execute. It’s the typical “we need to study it” response for which this administration is famous. They are making it up as they go.

If it was my child I never would have exposed him or her in the first place by inviting my Ebola exposed boyfriend to stay in my home. I would never demand that I be allowed to roam all over Dallas potentially infecting others. I would not be responsible for bringing a pandemic to America through ignorance or selfishness.

Perhaps you could redirect your ire at the individuals responsible?

And to finish answering your question, I would understand that through my own stupidity and selfishness I contaminated my own apartment, exposed my own child and have been living in that disease infested place and am likely already infected. I would understand that I made my own bed and have to lie in it, literally.

It’s her fault, not the authorities, and her kid is already toast even if they get to a magically safe “clean” quarantine.

How so? There are armed guards outside their apartment because they are resisting quarantine. They don’t want to be “stuck inside.”

Enlighten me rather than post a passing insult.

They are FEMA camps or the equivalent thereof and they are not going to be deployed for isolated cases. When they are activated they will be cesspools of infection and people will be begging for quarantine in home.

I’m afraid that a lot of people here don’t understand what is about to happen or potentially could happen. There is belief in fairy dust and the fantasyland that our hospitals and system can handle this. They cannot. If it goes pandemic it will be a military operation.

We are in unchartered territory. Mass casualties, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, all practiced and done. A pandemic? Not ready or equipped. Why do you see all the nurses and doctors protesting this week? What is it going to take to make people understand?

???? What training/protection did this cleaning service have? Are they also in isolation? We have the dumb leading the stupid.

Why in the world would you be so snarky? They aren’t being quarantined correctly. That’s not even a debate.

Should everyone who sees this insanity just shut up and obey their gov’t?
