The Texas Ebola victim’s family is quarantined under armed guard tonight.
This was after family members would not comply with a request to not leave their apartment.

ABC reported:

Four members of a family the U.S. Ebola patient was staying with were confined to their Texas home under armed guard Thursday as the circle of people possibly exposed to the virus widened, while Liberian authorities said they would prosecute the man for allegedly lying on an airport questionnaire.

The unusual confinement order was imposed after the family failed to comply with a request not to leave their apartment, according to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.

Texas State Health Commissioner David Lakey said the order would help ensure the four can be closely watched, including checking them for fevers over the next three weeks.

“We didn’t have the confidence we would have been able to monitor them the way that we needed to,” he said.

The family will not be allowed to receive visitors, officials said.

Authorities were also concerned about the cleanliness of the home and hired a cleaning service, Lakey said.

It’s too late. These people are already infected. Nothing done at this point will change it. Now it’s a matter of containing the spread to others.

I’m sorry if that sounds harsh but many decisions like this are coming.

The FEMA camps will be put to use if this spreads and the military is activated.

Most likely yes. A new batch of experimental serum won’t be available for months and it won’t be near enough to administer to large numbers of infected people.

The chosen few will receive it.

...” where Louise works”...

In a home, but what kind wasn't mention nor was it clarifed if it was someones residence...or another type, it was just listed as in a “Home”.

Hey look, this family has been dodging questions and changing their story from the get go. Now they know that Duncan, if he gets better, is facing prosecution in Liberia for lying about his contact with Ebola patients etc., no doubt they're figuring he'll be deported to stand those charges...and they really aren't comprehending the seriousness of this entire ordeal.....their culture is different as is their understanding of what's going on.

What this is is exactly what those in Liberia and other nations infected with Ebola are going through trying to deal with these people.

If Ebola hits the illegal population you can be sure they will not be compliant....they'll run. Which by the way I

This whole family should have been quarantined in a facility.Period.

Often, mysteriously, one or two people in the African households will not become infected. Over here, of those infected about 50% should survive as long as hospitals can accommodate them. This is just with supportive care; no antivirals.

So you people were exposed to your relative's Ebola, which included him vomiting on the sidewalk outside your home, and you're asked to stay home to allow monitoring and avoid spreading it to other people, and you keep leaving the house anyway???

YOU IDIOTS!

...”CDC’s idea was to tell them to lock themselves in with the stuff for a month”....

And in a couple days “Louise” was complaining she had no food. ....Sounds very third world doesn’t it.

...”Where are all those FReepers who said this couldn’t happen in America???”....

Well I don’t know about them......but with all the foreigners from third world countries coming here ANYTHING should be expected. Their cultures understand things differently , and their comprehension of what it means to be America is the furthest thing they even consider.

For most coming to America is what they can gain. Heck even in Liberia and other infected areas in Africa...the patients don’t want to leave the clinics once they’re well because it’s better there then where they live. Three meals a day...people taking care of your needs...they simply have it better there.

The hospitals cannot accommodate large numbers of infected. ERs and hospitals are already at the breaking point and the latest illegal invasion will put them over the edge this winter.

An outbreak? A pandemic? Forget it.

If these relatives aren’t infected hurray for them. You wanna take that chance and let them roam all over Dallas?

I expect the family members will start showing signs of infection over this weekend. And early next week, the triage person, who didn’t realize there is an epidemic in Liberia which is a country in Africa, will start showing signs of infection. Then the EMT persons. Then some hospital personnel. Etc. Hopefully, it will end there, but it never should have started here in the first place.

I decided to google home health aide, and Louise, and "Thomas Eric Duncan" and ebola..

The Daily Mail in the UK said she works as a home healthcare aide...I wonder how many clients she visits, or if she just has one client...

The very activity that you’re suggesting would stir up the virus and increase your chances of being contaminated.

But please... carry on.

With no supplies on hand, try to sterilize your house. I’ve done it and it ain’t no picnic.

And would you, sir, take your very alive and healthy child, and say, “that’s the way it is” then seal that child into an infected environment?

And what human being would do this to another?

We’re supposed to be better, more capable, than this.

Oh. So the ‘primative west africans’ knew that they had to provide food for those they placed into quarantine... And we don’t have that figured out yet.

Yes. We’re so advanced. We have NOTHING to worry about... Yes.

She’s supposed to be his “partner”, but she has a job over here. So I take it she was here and he flew over to be with her? But instead of flying straight from Ghana, where he was living, he chose to stop back in Liberia and expose himself to Ebola before lying in order to get onto a flight over here.

She and the kids have already likely been about as exposed to the virus as they can be, and I don’t have much sympathy for her.

But of course you’re right, we couldn’t be bungling the whole situation much more than we are. The UN is at least being more honest than Obama by pointing out that this whole thing could be completely out of control with an unfavorable mutation.

Even the hyper-PC UK and Kenya have had the good sense to stop flights from the region. We should be screaming for both Obama and our airlines to come to their senses and do the same.

Well, I’m not a sir but I am a RN with ER experience.

Again, I apologize if this offends you but you are thinking from an emotional standpoint. Cold, clinical decisions will be made in the coming weeks and months to save the greatest number of people. The “healthy” child has already been exposed for four days. As I said in a previous post, that horse has already left the barn. It’s too late.

Short of the FEMA camps which will be opened once the pandemic hits critical numbers there is no place to quarantine these people. But, I assure you, the camps are being prepped as we type.

And you never answered my question. What if it were YOUR kid?

Would you, as a medical professional, willingly seal your child in an apartment that you *know* is riddled with Ebola?

These people aren’t asking for anything unreasonable! They want a safe place to quarantine!

WTF is irrational about that request??
