The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday confirmed the first case of Ebola has been diagnosed in the United States.
This story is developing. Please check back for further updates
Okay.
I though I'd read that it was from a bite by a bat.
Don't eat bats.
Exactly! Why the hell didn’t they isolate him on that first visit to the hospital on the 26th!? Say they didn’t know that he was from Liberia, he most likely sounds African and was exhibiting symptoms of an infection. So why the hell didn’t they grill him about his country of origin and isolate him?
Yeah, the hospitals are on the alert and ready. Sure they are.
Is possible the first visit occurred on the 24th to a hospital ER or clinic. Is an unknown if the information of the 26th is absolute at this point.
That is extremely troubling. I think it likely that this guy high-tailed it out of Liberia when he realized he was sick. The first symptoms are often headache and tiredness. That would not cause any red flags, as those are typical when someone is doing a lot of flying. And there are too many cases in W.A. where patients have been infected by seemingly asymptomatic people.
Apparently they already forgot about Patrick Sawyer, who lied, lied, and lied again until he infected many others and died himself. They are placing too much faith on this Liberian’s version of the story.
It was a bite from a bat. This particular outbreak has been mediated by animal contact exactly once. Every other infection has been from human to human contact.
Hmmm but they are so tasty especially the roadkill kind.
Ebola is NOT curable...it can be survivable. But there is no cure. You *may* survive if you get IV fluids, blood transfusions and have someone being diligent to care for you. But the odds are you're going to die whether you get treatment or not. Right now, in Africa, 60% to 70% are dying WITH treatment. 90% are dying without treatment. Not exactly a cure....

This is the thing ....I’ve worked a flu season or two — people who are highly contagious, coughing, feverish, etc will head right on out and shop, run errands, and just generally roam everywhere before planting their butts in a huge crowded waiting room where they proceed to cough and hack and sneeze in every direction ....they are the ones who refuse flu shots as well .... But most of all they refuse to stay home .... They seek anti viirals, but these only work if you catch symptoms right away. Anti viirals are also truly supposed to be reserved for those with chronic problems or who are immunocomprimised — problem is everyone in the world with flu symptoms wanes them if only not to have to be inconvenienced by the flu ....
People just need to learn to stay home with body aches and fever .... But they won’t.

Thanks.
Fox & Friends just confirmed that the fellow passengers on this mans flight will not be screened at all by medical professionals.
The CDC is saying there is “ZERO chance anyone on his flight became infected.”
What a relief to those passengers who sat next to him!!!.......not!
Wait and see if the stinking republicanRINOs take the senate. Then, maybe the dictator in the hood of DC will decide what to do next with his executive orders. He ignores congress now. How much more if the RINOs take the WH? A true dictatorship if I have ever seen one. The closest this nation has ever come, since LBJ.
Repubs are powerless. The Kenyan maggot made the decision to ignore CDC’s recommendation to stop flights from Ebola countries. The maggot is responsible; stop blaming his opponents. Put the blame on the pig that made the decision. Only 3 good generals can stop BO.
um... that's bodily fluid...
wouldn't that kind of thing spread Ebola victims “bodily fluids” to others?
I can just imagine some ebola person on a bus, subway or train .... one sneeze like I just had... and bodily fluids of theirs would be all over everyone nearby.
Yes it would. Thats why there is an isolation called droplet precautions. As far as I know the CDC is not recommending droplet precautions, only contact isolation. Pretty cavalier.
Noro virus is also contact isolation. Every time we have a case in the hospital you can count on 1/2 the staff on the floor coming down with it in the next 48 hours, then it runs through the staff of the entire hospital....
BUT
People sneeze all the time (like I just did) for a variety of reasons besides showing signs of Ebola infection.
People sneeze because they have allergies, people sneeze because they have a slight cold, heck people even can sneeze because they smelt something funny!
So you could potentially have an asymptomatic Ebola carrier with allergies ... going around spreading the virus. NOT because he is showing signs of Ebola, but because he has allergies and just sneezes all the time anyway.
I think he’s stepping down in hopes a replacement can be pushed through while dems control the Senate.
Very interesting post, along with an interesting profile.
Thank you.
