shooting into the air in a place as densely populated as NJ is evidence of negligence at best.

If its over your property then its open season as far as I’m concerned but maybe not up there in the police sate of NJ.

It’s not a ‘drone’, it’s an RC helicopter.

SSS...I sympathize with the shooter, but he erred in leaving the damn thing for the operator to retrieve.
In addition, the neighbor is a jerk for spying on his neighbor.
This drone business is going to start a lot of crap...

We’re getting lessons at other’s expense unfortunately.
And I guess this is a lesson in how they don’t mix...

shooting into the air in a place as densely populated as NJ is evidence of negligence at best.In population density, Lower Township New Jersey is probably closer to Wyoming than Newark.

Krauthammer predicted on-air that the first guy who shot down a drone would become a national hero.

If its over your property then its open season as far as Im concerned If it's over your property, send up your own drone carrying a net attached to a parachute, and drop it on his drone.
Now you have 2 drones.
To: Paul46360
Percenti was arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Criminal Mischief. The shotgun used to shoot down the drone was seized by police. Hmm...the guy needs to get a lawyer. I can't tell from the story whether the drone operator was taking pictures of this guys house or a different guys house. If the drone was above the shooters house then what is unlawful about shooting down a drone? You don't know who is operating it or what it's doing. And where is the law saying you can't shoot a drone? It's not alive. And apparently it's not illegal to discharge a gun here for a lawful purpose.

Its not a drone, its an RC helicopter.

What about Gun Safety Rule #4: “Be sure of your target and what is behind it?”
In how many parts of the US is the population density low enough that it’s OK to “point a rifle into the air, the bullet comes down where?”
To: Pearls Before Swine
While I agree with your intent, this was a shotgun. Shotguns have far less range than a rifle.

Possession for unlawful purpose... huh?
>> Criminal Mischief
Seems to me the mischief was on the part of the neighbor, and it may have been criminal (was he spying with a camera?)

It was a shotgun. Not much danger from falling pellets.

Shotgun... my mistake... if you’re on a pretty good sized lot, have at it. In the city... tight lots, jerk neighbor.. I dunno.
