~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Fort Rucker, Alabama Fort Rucker is a U.S. Army post located mostly in Dale County, Alabama, United States. It was named for a Civil War officer, Confederate General Edmund Rucker. The post is the primary flight training base for Army Aviation and is home to the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) and the United States Army Aviation Museum. Small sections of the post also lie in Coffee, Geneva, and Houston counties. The main post has entrances from three bordering cities, Daleville, Ozark and Enterprise. In the years before the September 11, 2001 attacks, the main post (except airfields and other restricted areas) was an open post with unmanned gates allowing civilians to drive through. The U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence is the dominant military facility at Fort Rucker. Training, doctrine, and testing are all key parts of the Center's mission to develop Army Aviation's capabilities. All Army Aviation training has been undertaken at Fort Rucker since 1973, as well as training of US Air Force and ally helicopter pilots. The Center is home to the US Army Aviation Technical Test Center (ATTC), which conducts developmental aircraft testing for Army Aviation. The United States Army Operational Test and Evaluation Command's Test and Evaluation Coordination Office and TH-67 primary and instrument training are both located at Cairns Army Airfield. Operational units on the post include the 1st Aviation Brigade and the 110th Aviation Brigade handling Army Aviation training, and the USAF 23d Flying Training Squadron for the training of Air Force helicopter pilots. Additionally, due to the large number of Warrant Officers stationed there, the Warrant Officer Career Center and the Warrant Officer Candidate School are located at Fort Rucker. Learn More About Fort Rucker HERE! The United States Army Aviation Museum, located in South-central Alabama at Fort Rucker, maintains a collection of over 160 military aircraft, including one of the largest collections of military helicopters in the world. Public galleries represent the Army's involvement in aviation from the beginning days of the Wright brothers and early combat aircraft from World War I, to the highly technological machines flown by Army Aviators today. Visit The United States Army Aviation Museum HERE! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Please remember: The Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops. The Canteen is family friendly. Let's have fun! We pray for your continued strength, to be strong in the face of adversity. We pray for your safety, that you will return to your families and friends soon. We pray that your hope, courage, and dignity remain unbroken, so that you may show others the way. God Bless You All ~ Today, Tomorrow and Always |

Us, too — hubby trained at helicopter flight school there — our middle son was born at Lyster Army hospital when it was open ....
Best times of my life there, raising our Army brats with the ever present sound of helicopters flying over, night and day. Going to Dothan was our big day out.

Good evening Lauren. Just a quick check in this evening. Hope everyone had a great day. We went to a new TEXMEX restaurant this afternoon and stopped to get some plants for the fall garden.

A Fresh Start
Sept 30, 2014
Read: Luke 5:17-26
In many countries, health laws prohibit reselling or reusing old mattresses. Only landfills will take them. Tim Keenan tackled the problem and today his business employs a dozen people to extract the individual components of metal, fabric, and foam in old mattresses for recycling. But thats only part of the story. Journalist Bill Vogrin wrote, Of all the items Keenan recycles . . . its the people that may be his biggest success (The Gazette, Colorado Springs). Keenan hires men from halfway houses and homeless shelters, giving them a job and a second chance. He says, We take guys nobody else wants.
Luke 5:17-26 tells how Jesus healed the body and the soul of a paralyzed man. Following that miraculous event, Levi answered Jesus call to follow Him and then invited his fellow tax collectors and friends to a banquet in honor of the Lord (vv.27-29). When some people accused Jesus of associating with undesirables (v.30), He reminded them that healthy people dont need a doctoradding, I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance (v.32).
To everyone who feels like a throwaway headed for the landfill of life, Jesus opens His arms of love and offers a fresh beginning. Thats why He came!
The power of God can turn a heart
From evil and the power of sin;
The love of God can change a life
And make it new and cleansed within. Fasick
Salvation is receiving a new life.
The religious leaders accused Jesus of blasphemy for claiming divine attributes for Himself (Luke 5:21). Blasphemy is showing contempt or a lack of reverence for God or something sacred (v.20). A violation of the third commandment, it was punishable by death (Lev. 24:15-16).

Makes you wonder if they're named after the same person, don' it?
There's also a Rucker Lake State Park...probably the same area as Camp Rucker.

Yep, the lake is just up the road from the old Camp Rucker...in the Chiricahua Mts. north of Douglas.
