Australia Heat Wave Is Tied to Climate Change
New York Times ^ | September 29, 2014 | By JUSTIN GILLIS

The savage heat waves that struck Australia in 2013 were almost certainly a direct consequence of the human release of greenhouse gases, researchers said Monday. It is perhaps the most definitive statement climate scientists have made that ties a specific weather event to global warming.

Five groups of researchers, using distinct methods, analyzed the heat that baked Australia for much of last year and continued into 2014. All five came to the conclusion that last year’s heat waves could not have been as severe without the long-term climatic warming caused by human activity.

“When we look at the heat across the whole of Australia and the whole 12 months of 2013, we can say that this was virtually impossible without climate change,” said David Krapoly, a climate scientist at the University of Melbourne who led one research team.

Repeat after me, children:

Hot weather is climate.

Cold weather is just weather.

Say it again!

I went to the restroom three times yesterday.

I never thought I’d believe it, but I’m beginning to think global warming is man-made!

- - - - -

This makes more sense to me, than anything I’ve seen the global warming folks state yet.

And of course, it’s absurd on the face of it.

Yep, they can’t even meet the criterion of the theory itself yet keep bellowing on about “it’s settled science!” Uh, no, Climate Liars, it’s a theory whose most fundamental evidential marker clearly does not exist. If the Hot Spot were there then basic weather balloons with ordinary thermometers would detect it quite easily.

There was a heatwave? - I didn’t notice - thought the summer was quite mild but then again so was the winter! Quite a warm start to this spring so we will see if that bodes well for the summer - from my short experience of 53 years having it this warm this early might mean we have a wet summer - lots of tropical storms coming to South Australia from up north - love those years!

It’s very fitting to have a Crichton reference in an AGW thread.

Your observations are purely toxic to the warmists' criminal alarmism.

Good on ya!

I marvel at the warmists' lack of forethought here. The warmists continue to set themselves up to even the modestly curious and inquisitive as the easily observable, and highly provable conpeople that they are.

The substantial growth of icefields in Antarctica do not lie. (And add to this the many, many other easily observable examples of global cooling.)

They blame cold waves on the same Global Warming; besides, isn’t it Climate Change now?.

Whoops. They did say Climate Change. It’s Climate Change only because Global Warming has been so discredited. Just like Libs want to be called Progressives.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

“It is perhaps the most definitive statement climate scientists have made that ties a specific weather event to global warming.”

Not noted was that the “climate scientists” submitted no verifiable data to support their claims. The “climate scientists” need not supply data to support their claims because, in their estimation, climate change is settled science.
