Because of incidents like these, I fear for my life whenever I encounter a cop, but that doesn't give me a license to shoot first. At least the State of South Carolina did the right thing by promptly terminating this scum.
Police: Cop was just following procedure.
The circumstances of the two shootings are not comparable. Mr. Jones was not rushing the officer and had not punched the officer already in the face.
Once an officer in a stop orders one to perform an action that requires some bodily movement then it is a shooting situation. If the driver moves to retrieve his wallet or to do anything else he is open to being shot. If he doesn't move he is in noncompliance and liable to be shot. The time is coming if we don't get a handle on this when the only rational response to being stopped by a police officer while in your car will be to try to shoot the officer before he shoots you.
The FBI figures below include the majority of all police departments. The point of this reply is to point out that whites are the most likely to die while being arrested. The Obama-Holder U.S. Dept. Just Us and the race-grievance industry will of course exploit this shooting to the max vis-a-vis race more than any concern for the poor victim.
The FBI stats show that whites are more likely to die while being arrested and IMO there is no doubt that some of those deaths were the intention of the police.
What about the larger number of whites and Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD)? Why is that okay with Obama, the race-grievance industry, and the media? We never see coverage of questionable ARDs involving whites that's anything close to Ferguson.
Arrest-Related Deaths, 2003-2009 - Statistical Tables
"From 2003 through 2009, a total of 4,813 deaths were reported to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) program."
Of these, about 6 in 10 deaths (2,931) were classified as homicide by law enforcement personnel, and 4 in 10 (1,882) were attributed to other manners of death.

To me this shows that it is not a racial thing. It happens to all races. These figures however do not show those thought "murdered" by police. I have not yet located data for recent years. Why can't I find data for recent years? I do not know.. maybe the Dept of Just Us and Race-Grievance Industry don't want it known that whites are the most likely to die being arrested.
Check out the photo of that cop. Look at those cold, soulless eyes. Obviously the type who joined the police force for the sake of Authority, so that he could boss people around and legally hurt and/or kill them. He just happens to be the one who didn’t get away with it.
Well...Think about it...Why would this be news, unless the purpose was to incite further tension???
This has to be happening a LOT more than makes the news outside the immediate area...
The insane solution that you might not be surprised about is that some would champion Black cops for black civilian areas, and White cops, for white civilian areas...
Absolutely NO interracial contact to be made till an officer of the “right” color responds to the scene...
It would only make sense to the Jesse Jackson’s and Al Sharpton’s of the world...
Nevermind the “real” effectiveness of such an asinine solution, but that would be secondary to the overall problem fomented by the race pimps in the black community...
Yeah, I already know, I’ve been called a racist well before such incidents occur...
Yawn...
BTW, the cop DID act a little bit too quick on the application of deadly force in this situation...And now he is not the only one paying for it...
An analogy to me would be, a salesman pulls in my driveway, reaches back into his car for brochures or a product and I draw down and shoot him because I thought he might have a weapon.
I'd be put under the jail.

I am going to disagree with most of you Ferguson rioters.
Once the motorist’s hands were hidden in the truck, the cop’s escalation to action was predictable.
Some of the follow-up shots are the problem, even though in those situations the shots are adrenaline driven.
Never let a cop lose sight of your hands. If you have to retrieve your license from inside the car, as in this case, you tell the cop so, and ask how he wants to proceed.
People make the serious mistake of assuming the cop is a mind reader and knows that you are a Nobel Peace Prize recipient and up for sainthood.
I think a lot of this stems from when ‘they’ decided 4 years of Military life as a big plus for going into Law Enforcement was trumped by a 20 yo with 2 years Junior College under his belt.
Also when the quals were tailored to fit a 5’5 120lb person and then expect a 6’4 220 to ‘work’ alongside of them.
When I got out in ‘64 I was looking into joining the Virginia State Police. I was 6’0 148 lbs and had 8 yrs in the Navy behind me.
They acknowledged they liked the fact I had Military attitude and bearing, had some real life experience, looked squared away etc BUT told me to go put some ‘meat on my bones’ - he then threw in - Proportionately, not ‘fatten up’ to get to a ‘desired weight’.
Granted a ‘recruiter’ probably wouldn’t have talked like that but I was dealing with a ‘working’ Sgt and in that era we weren’t in the habit of suing just because someone may have hurt your feelings. (By telling the truth).
Here’ a longer video.........
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBUUO_VFYMs
This cop is an absolute moron to the nth degree. I can’t believe this, he actually walked up to someone on private property and shot him.
WTF?
Anybody ever google the video of Kyle Dinkheller’s murder by Andrew Brannan (effin’ POS)?
Eerily similar.....
I want to know what happened before the video started to get the cop to come over.
Anyone who states this cop should be fired answer this question:
How was the officer to know that once Jones came back out from the vehicle that he wasn't holding a gun himself ready to shoot the officer?
Anyone with half a brain knows by now that whenever you're stopped by a police officer you keep your damn' hands where the officer can see them so as not to establish yourself as a potential threat to the officer's safety first.
Ping
Groubert had stopped Jones on a seatbelt violation at a Columbia gas station
Bogus stop in the first place. Gee, I wonder if his license plate illumination light is in order...
He stopped a black guy, in what looks to be a not so great part of town. Black guy does sort of make a fast move to get into the car, apparently to retrieve his licence, but the cop misinterprets it, believing the guy was going for a gun or something.
The cop freaked out. Does that make him a criminal? Not necessarily, but it does make him incompetent to say the least, and mostly at fault.
I was a little surprised that at least on the video, the guy was a little quick to dive into his car. I figure most minority males (like me), know better than to make quick moves like that when encountering LEO.
I have had a few encounters with police, and I can tell you that I don't "trust" them with their snap judgments, any more than I would trust the average idiot. I move in slow motion, that's for sure. Maybe one day I can talk about the experience I had of being pulled over, and having 4 cops pull their guns and all aim them at me. Moved like a sloth, I did that day...
Was the driver even aware that an officer was going to request his license? He didn’t “dive” back into the vehicle, he’d barely stepped out the door and was still between the door and the interior of the vehicle.
There’s a reason Barney Fife only had one bullet. This high-strung officer demonstrates why. If the driver had “suddenly” reached for his wallet in his back pocket, Officer Hairtrigger would have shot him for that.
Good move, removing him from the force. He was clearly in the wrong and has no business carrying a gun, in uniform or out.
