COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) An unarmed man shot by a South Carolina trooper during a traffic stop repeated one question through his anguished cries as he lay wounded, waiting for an ambulance: "Why did you shoot me?"
Levar Jones' painful groans and then-Trooper Sean Groubert's reply "Well you dove head first back into your car" were captured by a dashboard camera in the trooper's car.
Groubert had stopped Jones on a seatbelt violation at a Columbia gas station and fired the shots moments after asking Jones for his license

“Did you really say pigs?
How classy !”
No less classy than the foul mouthed cops who walk the streets. And it is what they’ve become. Why in the world would I respect them, when they clearly don’t respect us or even their position of public trust?
Our rights are nothing but in the way. And accidents that harm us are shrugged off, with the offending officers not punished. The Dorner hunt nonsense is a case in point. Not one cop punished for shooting at innocent people. Clearly we mean nothing to them, except as something to control and fund their games.
Tell me, why would I support and respect that?
Haters. hahaha, yeah, if we don’t support the murdering of our citizens, we’re haters!!!
How about a reader period?
These are the same coppers who still take 20-30 min to fill out a short standardized ticket form they see every day, even with laptop computers in the cruisers.
Most guys carry their wallet in their back pocket. Sitting on that wallet can cause back pain. My husband put his on the little ledge in front of the speedometer.
And in this case I would say the cop would have claimed he was "reaching for something" if it had been in his pants.
I'm beginning to wonder if we don't have a concerted effort by trolls to discredit FR. These guys make outrageous claims meant to enflame, then fall back on FR rules. I had a guy sick the mods on me yesterday in just this fashion.
The way you wrote your post that looks like my quote instead of the guy’s who’s post you are criticizing, you should have included him in your ping since he is the one you are complaining about.
“P.S. No need to worry I am not involved in law enforcement in any manner. However, my wife is. She’s a dispatcher. Just for your information a larger percentage than you would imagine who are pulled over for minor traffic violations have some form of serious criminal background.”
Most of the time they run the plate before a traffic stop, and it comes back a registered to someone with a serious criminal record. That was very likely the case in this instance.
The seatbelt violation was likely a reason to stop a known felon/drug dealer/gang member.
I’d be willing to bet the pubic is being fed only the information the media wants them to see to promote their political agenda.
I’d want to see the victim’s criminal record before judging the cop’s actions, it would affect the cop’s action because he likely knew before the stop.
Ummm... No. That would be an unreasonable search. The man was stopped for a seat belt violation. If he asks about the ID, the man would say "It's in my wallet, in the car." At that point the man - NOT the officer - is allowed to retrieve his ID.
“Did you read the article?” Yes, did you write it?
Did it include all available information on what the cop knew about the driver before the traffic stop? Cops run the plate to know who they are dealing with before pulling someone over.
Was he a felon on parole with multiple weapons charges and a violent history? You forgot that in your article.
The cop would know that, but that information was held back in this article.
“The only problem I have is not seeing the entire stop. Did the man do something that we do not see in the clip provided that made this cop pull out his gun? Him having his gun trained on the man is not proper procedure either, unless the man had given him good reason to.”
The main thing we don’t see, that the cop DID see, was what came back on the guy’s record when the plate was run before the stop. He very well may have had good reason to be nervous about the driver.
Well, if I am in the extreme minority, it is interesting that the same 15 crackpots show up on these cop-hating threads every time. And, the shoe shine probably tastes better than the rear ends you guys lick.
Rushing to judgment? You have him tried, convicted and sentenced within moments. Wake up, my FRiend...go ahead and move to one of those countries where the cops don't do anything (Mexico? Columbia? et al). The normal folks will stay here and appreciate LEOs.

Here is another concern that should eclipse LEOs
No, I haven’t tried him, or convicted him, or sentenced him, but you seem to have done so, and have already determined that what we see didn’t happen, and that he is innocent of the felony shooting.
Rather than rush to judgement, why don’t you relax a little bit and recognize that he is rightfully charged with a felony shooting, and needs to face a trial?
Rather than rush to judgement"
You live in Demo-world with double-speak. Re-read your post very, very slowly. Repeat after me..."he is innocent until PROVEN guilty, rather than just when I look at a video and play Judge Judy."
Sorry, but he will be facing trial for his felony shooting, you can try all you want to decide the case here with your ravings, but it won’t change the reality.
So rant and rave away at people as reality continues moving forward.
We'll go very slowly for the impaired...this is what the adults do for special ed kids. Adults do not try the fellow before he is tried. That is what you and the communist cop-haters are doing and you are welcome to join the Bill Ayers club on the playground.
Look at your posts on this thread, you are obsessed and raging and raving, and attacking, at everyone, non-stop, and now for a second day.
Get a grip on yourself.
