Eric Holder Jr., the nation's first black U.S. attorney general, is preparing to announce his resignation Thursday after a tumultuous tenure marked by civil rights advances, national security threats, reforms to the criminal justice system and five and a half years of fights with Republicans in Congress.
Two sources familiar with the decision tell NPR that Holder, 63, intends to leave the Justice Department as soon as his successor is confirmed, a process that could run through 2014 and even into next year. A former U.S. government official says Holder has been increasingly "adamant" about his desire to leave soon for fear he otherwise could be locked in to stay for much of the rest of President Obama's second term.

Re replacing Holder, MA Gov. Deval Patrick said, “That’s an enormously important job but it’s not one for me right now.”
Translation: “Let some cracker take the blame while he’s cleaning up that mess. I’d definitely be interested once that was done.”

What makes you think it matters if we get the Senate back? Will GOP senate leadership have more fortitude than House GOP leadership?
If we get control of the Senate it’ll be by a slim margin. Obama will nominate someone completely ridiculous, like Al Sharpton. The senate will nix that nomination. Obama will nominate someone else just as bad, say Jesse Jackson. The senate will nix him too.
At that point, Obamas media sycophants will start driving the “obstructionist republicans” and “Presidents should be able to nominate who they want” stories.
Then Obama nominates a REAL loon candidate knowing the Senate GOP leaders will fold. Or a “Gang of seven” will form to push the nominee through.
In short, controlling the Senate only gives us power to stop Obamas ridiculous nominees for as long as GOP leaders can take the heat for doing so. History says that is not long.
If that’s the case, why would Reid wait til after the elections? He can just do it now.

Holder probably has gotten the news that Mike Brown ( the gentle giant) case will be in the favor of the police, and with all the other messes he is in has decided to cut and run.
News should be coming out soon concerning the Feds investigation into the Ferguson shooting.
The next step is WHO will replace him?? Rush said Claire McCaskill's name came up - God Forbid!! The witch of Missouri.
And there is the possibility of a SCOTUS appointment --

I also doubt the theory that obongo is thinks the spinate is lost therefore holder is leaving. If the spinate is lost all the more reason for him to stay and obstruct justice.
He is leaving to make money and cash in.
